I know there are others I'll think of later, but these were the ones that first came to mind:

David Lynch - Mulholland Dr.; Blue Velvet; The Elephant Man
Lasse Hallström - My Life as a Dog; What's Eating Gilbert Grape; The Shipping News
Julie Taymor - Frida; Titus
Martin Scorsese - After Hours; The King of Comedy; Gangs of New York
Mike Nichols - Silkwood; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; Angels in America
Robert Altman - Vincent & Theo; Short Cuts; Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean
Joel and Ethan Coen - Fargo; The Man Who Wasn't There
Jane Campion - An Angel at My Table; The Piano
Scott Hicks - Shine; Snow Falling on Cedars
Alfred Hitchcock - Psycho; Rear Window
Herbert Ross - The Turning Point; The Seven-Per-Cent Solution; Play It Again, Sam
Vincente Minnelli - Meet Me in St. Louis; Tea and Sympathy
Fred Zinnemann - Julia; From Here to Eternity; High Noon
Clint Eastwood - Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil; Mystic River

Also, I'm starting to form a real appreciation for Ron Howard, particularly after seeing A Beautiful Mind.
