Default Shows that disappointed N@N/TV Land

What shows do you think didn't live up to ratings N@N or TV Land hoped for them? Give answers and explain why. For example, I would not list a show like Coach as a N@N disappointment because I don't think N@N ever had any hope for it

Nick at Nite

Welcome Back Kotter - Nick at Nite had a whole Welcome Back week and then devoted Kotter Fridays to the show in the summer of 1995. When the show premiered in the regular lineup at 11PM, it was gone less than a year later

color Bewitched - It's quite obvious that the B&W episodes of Bewitched were a huge hit for N@N for many years but when the color episodes launched in 1998, Bewitched was pushed back to 11:30PM by the summer and hit overnite in 1999. I think the color ones never quite got the same ratings the B&W ones did

WKRP in Cincinnati - I don't think N@N ever had huge hopes for this but it must have really tanked for them because it was down to once a week about 3 months after it started airing

Facts of Life/Dif'frent Strokes - I will never get why they left the lineup as quickly as they did because I thought they were doing well in the ratings

TV Land

Batman - TV Land couldn't have been more excited about Batman coming... it even got some airtime on N@N but it was not too long before Batman was shelved to bad time slots and then it disappeared before it's contract even expired

Mary Tyler Moore - I don't think it ever lived up to it's N@N ratings. After 8 years on N@N, by the time it got to TV Land primetime, it was probably not doing as well and it soon got pushed to a morning time slot. I expect it'll rebound and be strong if it comes back in a few years

I'll add more as I think of some... share your thoughts!

Nick at Nite

Laverne & Shirley - Nick at Nite treated this show good up until Spring 1999 (marathon, day in block party summer, nice prime-time slot in fall/winter) when the show lost the 10:30pm airing. From that day forth, it was seldom seen in prime-time or in one of the future block party summers.

WKRP In Cincinnatti - Recieved an introduction marathon, however no prime-time slot. It was one of those show that got pushed to the "backburner".

The Lucy Show - Once I Love Lucy debuted, this show moved quickly to the wee hours of the night and was never, EVER treated like the same. Unfortunitely, the show remained in the graveyard until N@N pulled the plug on it in July of 1996.

TV Land
Laverne & Shirley - Didn't last long in Twice as Nice and lasted only six months on network.

The Bob Newhart Show - TV Land has had the rights to this show for over two years or so and they are NOW beginning to re-air it?

Carol Burnett & Friends - Dropped from prime-time within a month after it's network debut.

All In The Family - Was quickly faded out in prime-time ... only to be moved in a late night slot.

We'll have to see about Murphy Brown. It never was a big syndicated hit anyway.

I only get Nick at Nite so I have a few shows that disappointed me that they didn't get the treatment they deserved.

Family Ties--shoved to late nights
Charles In Charge--was shown in late nights only and they skipped the Pembroke episodes that aired on CBS
WKRP In Cincinatti--treated terribly
Maude--In 1999,they aired this show for about a month along with All In The Family,The Jeffersons and Sanford and Son. That really disappointed me when they dropped the show and the way they edited Sanford and Son as well. Sanford and Son was also was dropped after that month.
The Wonder Years--poorly treated

I agree that Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life didn't last as long on N@N as they should have. DS was later moved to TNN...didn't last long on there either.

As for TV Land, Family Ties must have been a disappointment. They played that 48 hour marathon last winter, which was awesome. Then, they played the show twice a day...and now only once a day. (in the middle of the night, mind you)

Some shows on TV Land

Mr. Ed.- It was a staple of Nick at Nite for several years and was on TV Land first schudule but this time they treated this show with no respect pushed back to th elate night and then started airing it on Sundays only and they disapper from the schudule. But they put it back on the schudule for now.

Barney Miller- They treated the show fairly nice for a year. Then they pushed it back into the late night.

Charlie's Angels- Same with Barney Miller.

Dennis the Menace/Donna Reed- You think that they would give those shows that put Nick at Nite on the map they would give those shows a little respect? No, They not only show every episode they only showed about 30-35 episodes the had right to

All the titles listed I agree with as well.

Wings, less than a month on N@N and shoved to timeslot Siberia. I don't believe the ratings were that bad.

Family Ties, I always thought it did well on N@N but I guess I was wrong.

How about Coach on N@N? Didn't seem to last too long in primetime or overnight.

Quite a while back I posted on the Nick at Nite/TV Land official message board about why they did a week long Wings marathon but then pulled it almost entirely from their lineup, showing it only late at night. I actually got a response from the moderator of the board saying that Wings didn't pull in the ratings they had hoped for.

Yeah, I know, that sucks. I always thought it was a very funny show.
