A few nights ago, I was watching this TV special about TV's all-time funniest families, and they had this section about sibling rivalry, and I totally thought they could have shown some scenes from Wings of Joe and Brian, or even Helen and Casey.
The first scene that came to my mind was from "Das Plane", when they landed in that field, and Joe and Brian got into an argument, and then it ended up with Brian yelling "STUPID HEAD!!!" at Joe, and they ended up wrestling on the ground like kids.... that was so funny, and a perfect example of sibling rivalry... that, or any of a bunch of other scenes would have been great to include! It makes me mad that Wings is never included in any kind of thing about sitcoms... it's like the show never existed. ~Krista |

Yeah I also saw that and I was surprised they didn't show anything from Wings. I haven't really been watching the show lately but when I heard about the abc special, I thought for sure there would be some clips. I guess they could only get the rights to a certain amount of shows that weren't from their network. Who knows!

I didn't watch it, but I'm not surprised Wings wasn't included. I will never understand the hatred towards this show (Yet shows like Everybody Loves Raymond and Sex in the City are so popular. Yuck!
). Wings is, IMHO, a fine example of good, intelligent comedy.

Back in 1995, NBC had a "Funny TV Families" special. Wings was included in that. They showed the clip from the episode where Helen marries Antonio. It was the scene where Joe found the woman's phone number and called her up on the speaker phone. That was before I was a big fan of "Wings" so I really didn't care. However, whenever I see that scene, I always remember how it was part of that special.

Well they are suppose to do a New Year's Memory Special a few days before new years on NBC.. It is suppose to be a special about their shows and events that happened on NBC from 1990 to 2004. So since wings has a 7 year length in that, I'm sure they'll include it.

I have to wonder why NBC even kept the show on for as long as it did.

Actually the show had good ratings..
Was that book you're talking about over 120 pages? I have a book about NBC's Greatest Shows too.. This includes the best shows from 1980-2004. It has 4 pages of Wings, with good stuff about it. You know the funny thing? Wings beat friends in it... Friends only contained 3 pages. The book you saw must've been by another part of NBC studios.. They have more than one you know. Paramount may not think wings has potential but NBC did.. So if you didn't see wings in that book. Look in the back or middle, cause the best ones will be there. BTW if you only looked in the contents thats not good enough. Look on every page.. Cause the book I have it doesn't include Wings in the contents. It doesn't even show friends in the contents. It only shows the Programs with over 5 Pages in it. XD |
