Default Lifetime Real Women Losing Rights to Ellen; Oxygen Picks Show Up!

Lifetime Real Women (and the entire Lifetime family) is losing the rights to Ellen after the end of August (After the August 27 airings, it will be gone). The 6 year deal is up and Lifetime didn't renew, but Oxygen will get the rights and start airing it this fall! More details to come...

thank god!!!

Lifetime SUCKS.

They had the rights to Ellen for 6 years, and only aired it for about 9 months totally. Yet we get the freaking overrated Golden Girls and Designing Women (no offense to the fans of those shows, but I feel they are overrated) on EVERY SINGLE DAY in those same years.

Oxygen will treat Ellen a lot better than Lifetime did.

I agree!

Although I AM a big fan of both Golden Girls and Nanny I agree they are WAY overplayed.

I can't believe Lifetime had the show for SIX years! It only came on in 2000 (I think) so they had it since 1998... I'm a bit confused on this. They waited two years to air it... strange, or am I totally lost?

And yep, Oxygen will treat it a LOT better.

I remember it airing in 1998, but it was quickly off it seems. It must have came back in 2000 I guess? Any Ellen fans out there to confirm?

You're probably right; All I remember was it coming on in 2000 (with Murphy Brown) and then airing for maybe close to a year... I want to say at least through April 2001...

Hmm...

I remember it was the fall of 1998 when they started showing Ellen. Because that's when I became a full-fledged fan of the show. It was on for at least 3 cycles, because I had started taping the second cycle. I'm not sure when they took it off the first, though. I remember fall of 1998, because that was when the show had just ended it's original run on ABC.

I just remembered somethng else. It must have still been on in 1999, beacuse I remember telling someone in my senior year of high school that I liked the show "Ellen" and they accused me of being gay. Once Lifetime took Ellen off, I didn't really talk about it. So I wouldn't have been talking about the show to anyone.

I just saw the commercial on Oxygen - I am so excited!

It starts October 4th at midnight (I think) ~ it's a late night showing but I don't care, they are SHOWING it!

The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

airing Ellen the sitcom right after the talk show is an excellent idea.

I'm not 100% sure how Oxygen will air the series (I know Lifetime barely aired "These Friends Of Mine"), but if they start with the first season (you'll notice Janice from Friends, if you see her, this is season one), bare it out for 2-3 weeks because season 2 was when the show really found it's footing. I thought the seasons 3-4 ensemble was excellent.
