In todays episode "Mama's Girls" Mama introduced Aunt Effie as her sister-in-law Effie Harper. So she must have been married to Mama's brother.(Clyde)?
Ok, I am now convinced that Effie is a Harper not a Crowley despite what the NBC episodes claimed. Oh, woe is me! Bloopers Bloopers! Another blooper thread is in the works. Stay tuned!

If she was married to Mama's brother, then wouldn't she be a Crowley?

If she is called Aunt Effie by Themla that make her pretty dang old, then that would make Aunt Effie would have been married to Carl and Roy's Uncle. Now if She is an Aunt to Ellen Eunice, and Vint, that could mean she is a sister of Carl and Roy to make her an Aunt to Ellen, Eunice, and Vint.
So, was she a real sister -in-law to Mama or a Sister-in-law by marriage to a Brother? Will have to look it up. Different sites said she was a haprer others said she was a crowley. Also on another note, wondering what was true one site said she commited suicide in 1995 http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet...539/epid-99706 Another site said she died of parkinson's disease in may of 2002 http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0888404/ Wonder which is right? how could she die 2 different times and 7 years apart. Maybe she was a real Crowley and an Aunt to Thelma and great Aunt to Ellen, Eunice, and Vint. Thelma and Aunt Fran's mother's sister. Maybe she was married to Thelma and Aunt Fran's brother who wanted a gun for high school graduation instead got a bible if he had only read the bible he would have seen the money for the gun was in the bible. Maybe she was married to one of Thelma and Aunt Fran's Uncles. Lots of possiblilites there could be. A sister to Carl and Roy. A Sister-in-law to Carl and Roy. A real Aunt to Carl and Roy. A Aunt by marriage to Carl and Roy. A Real Aunt to Thelma and Aunt Fran. A Aunt by marriage to Thelma and Aunt Fran. A sister-in-law to Thelma and Aunt Fran. Could be any number of possiblilties if you include both sides of Thelma's Family(her mother and father) Carls family(both sides mother and father) Could end up with like 30 possibilities. |

Okay we will agree she is Carl and Roy's Sister. Will have to watch the episode where Aunt Effie falls off the roof from shingling(how ever it is spelled) the roof. Also will have to watch the Episode where Thelma bring Aunt Effie to their home to try and convience the doctors she is alright.

Found this from the episode called No Room at the inn
No Room at the Inn In her answering machine message, Aunt Effie refers to Thelma as her cousin. If Effie is Thelma's cousin, then she is a cousin once removed to Vint, Eunice, and Ellen, and a cousin twice removed to Buzz and Sonya - not their aunt. [It's very common for people to call someone their aunt or uncle, even if they're not really related to them in this way. It's used as a term of respect and affection.] Also if you watch the episode where the older ladies of RayTown want to do a tap dance recitel(how ever it is spelled) Mama tells a story of when Aunt Effie and her were kids and how great of a tap dancer Aunt Effie was. So if Thelma knew Aunt Effie when they were kids I seriously doubt she was a Sister of Carl and Roy. I hardly think Thelma knew Carl when she was a young girl. Also all the big sites that give information on tv show characters and actors and actress all list her as Aunt Effie Crowley TVtome.com IBM Classictvhits.com All list her as Aunt Effie Crowley. http://www.classictvhits.com/showcards/mamasfamily/ http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0085050/ Watch this episode again. 74. Mama's Girls gs: Dorothy Van (Aunt Effie) Marguerite Hickey (Bambi) Earl Bullock (Hartley Scoggins) Betty Bunch (Belle Scoggins) Meg Brown (Mama's Girl #1) Gloria Larson (Mama's Girl #2) Frances Neal (Mama's Girl #3) Beverly Polcyn (Mama's Girl #4) Patty Joy Neal (Mama's Girl #5) Effie's doctor tells her she needs to start exercising more,so after an argument her and Thelma sign up for a tap class at the senior's center.Only to find out there not allowed to sweat due to the insurance policy on the place. So Mama decides to lead her own class and soon enough there planning a big show at the center. The Shriners order 87 tickets, while Bubba and T-boy put up flyers all over the parking lot at the mall. But then Hartley Scoggins, from the insurance company, comes to inform Mama she won't be having a show after all. That is until she calls his mother, who quickly sets him straight and he ends up talking the company into buying the sets and costumes. Meanwhile,Vint and Bubba try unsuccessfully to fix the phone. b: 25-Sep-1987 pc: 414 w: Rick Hawkins d: Dave Powers |
