Maybe I'm the only one, but I thought Darlene and David from Roseanne could have made a good spin-off. New parents, both artists looking for work in Chicago. Darlene was funny enough to hold her own.

Only a couple I can think of and they are stupid, but would have been fun for a laugh:
Cody off of Step by Step Larry, Darryl and Darryl |

Sandra Clarke was spun off. She starred in the spinoff Jackee where Sandre Clarke moved to New York City. It only lasted a couple of episodes.
Mrs. Garrett was already spun from Diff'rent Strokes |

This one's a bit different answer, but being a Muppets fan, I'd say I wouldn't mind if "Elmo's World" was spun off as its own show from Sesame Street and then just leave Sesame Street as its own entity. I don't mind if Elmo shows up on Sesame Street because he's a part of the show, but I don't want him monopolizing the whole show.
I also think "The Coltons" would have been a great spin-off from MacGyver. A pilot episode was made and airs as an episode of MacGyver. It's too bad the show didn't keep going. |

Welcome Back, Kotter almost spun off into "Horshack" (and the pilot made it into the series) but it seems to me that I'm about the only one who approves of this idea. Lenny and Squiggy were almost spun off of Laverne & Shirley, as well...the show was called "Lenny and Squiggy in the Army" and it was supposed to be about Lenny and Squiggy...in the army. It didn't work.
Darlene and David? Oh, that would've been cool... |

Barney and Thelma Lou were an interesting couple on TAGS. When Knotts left in 1965 it might have made for an interesting spinoff. They went well together.

I think Kramer should have gotten a spinoff. The premise: One of Kramers inventions (the bro/manzier???) had sold big and he is now running his own mega-conglomerate manufacturing his various ideas and inventions. Handeled carefully(i.e. Frazier) it could have been a huge, hillarious hit.

I've always thought that Ernest T. Bass from The Andy Griffith Show should have had a spin-off where he joins the Marines kind of like Gomer did(not in the same Unit of course). They(Ernest T. and Gomer) were such radically different personalities that I think it could have worked having two shows like that. Gomer being the nice but clumsy one and Ernest T. would be like he always is, crazy and in fact a little psychotic!

I could easily have pictured Sabrina's witch aunt Zelda Spellman getting her own spinoff, leaving Boston to teach somewhere else (New York? Washington?) with her own work and romantic adventures. Beth Broderick (a sitcom MIA; has she done anything since leaving the show in 2002?) vividly gave the character depth, making her as funny, intelligent and sexy as she was magical. In the right hands, a "Zelda" show could have been plenty of fun, and slightly more sophisticated than "Sabrina" was (assuming Archie Comics didn't get in the way).

Dietrich and Harris from Barney Miller; forget about Fish, these two as room mates would had made an excellent spin off of Barney Miller...An unconventional version of The Odd Couple

I agree that a spinoff with Kramer might have worked (moreso than any other Seinfeld character), but it's better that it was left alone.

I never read anything about it, but there was an hour long episode of "Barney Miller" once and the second half was just about Wojo, I've always thought that it was probably going to be the pilot for a spin-off, but they decided not to go with it for whatever reason. |
