while it certainly wasn't the best, IMO there is no such thing as a "bad season" of The Simpsons. The only problem was that everything wasn't fully fleshed out and developed yet at that point, especially voices and the characters of Homer and Lisa, but even then, Call Of The Simpsons, Krusty Gets Busted, The Crepes Of Wrath and Bart The General still rank as classic episodes. Even the not-as-good season 1 episodes do hold up very well considering it's been just about 15 years since they were produced. Usually with animated shows, you can tell how generic the early episodes look when compared to latter seasons, especially if you compare the current Simpsons and South Park episodes to the very early ones. As the shows got more profitable, their animation became more impressive.

What I really wanna see is a list of the top 50 or 100 tv-dvd titles up to this point. Of course recent programming will dominate, but when you find a top 100, you're very likely to find a lot of older classic shows as well.

Friends certainly will, any sitcom that scores that type of ratings becomes a classic regardless of the quality.

That 70's Show definately will be like Happy Days, I can see people having Kelso avatars all over the place in 2025.

Will And Grace has certainly won enough Emmys that it'll probably be regarded as one of those "smart shows" like Mash or Cheers or MTM down the road, same with Raymond.

The Simpsons is ALREADY a classic, and they're still on

Malcolm In The Middle will probably be like Diff'rent Strokes

Sex And The City will probably be regarded as a show that pushed the sexual envelope on tv while staying funny, like people regard Three's Company today

maybe none of these shows will ever be as classic as AITF. But I think if Who's The Boss and Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air are now "classics", no reason to think these shows won't be too

I can just picture that!
And I agree that all of the shows you mentioned will be classics. The word classic doesn't just denote quality - it's about nostalgia too.
