Default TV Land Question about Variety Shows in their lineup

I was wondering has TV LAND turned a 60 min Variety Show of Flip Wilson into a 30 min show so that it could fit in a 30 min timeslot? If that's true then the pickup was pointless. Can you imagine all the footage we are missing.

TV Land is doing the same thing with the Carol Burnett Show; which is a shame

They Did the same thing with the Carol Burnett Show and The Sonny And Cher Comedy Hour when it used to air there. When N@N aired Rowan And Martin's Laugh-In in the 1980's it also was only in a 30 minute format. Alot is cut out.

Which explains why I didn't see the Jackson Five do the Flip eLBW RUB AND bump with Flip Wilson. I hate TV LAND. I will not watch any Flip eps.

I do not watch the Flip Wilson either; first I have very episode on tape, and I am disgusted with TV Land's inferior editing, and having the audacity to shorten a classic show like Flip Wilson Show from an hour to just less than 30 minutes...

Its to bad but thats the only way its going to be shown on tv. For some strange reason, Variety shows don't do well in syndication. Maybe it will come to DVD soon and uncut.

I have The Best of Flip Wilson on DVD, which unfortunately is not very good; and only has like five episodes

Me too; I find it hard to believe that those Western Shows are still popular!..It does not make any sense at all; honestly I just think that the Program Director at Tv Land is a huge Western Fan..

Bonanza and Gunsmoke are on TV Land? I thought The Hallmark Channel had exclusive cable rights for those shows. Or are you talking about TV Land showing them in the past?

Hallmark airs the lost episodes of Bonanza. TV Land airs the other package. Gunsmoke is not on Hallmark, only on TV Land. Though, the earlier seasons package is on the Starz! Westerns channel.

As for why variety shows are 30 minutes in syndication, and not the full 60 minutes, it's because of the music rights. TV Land didn't do, that is how all variety shows are syndicated. Carol Burnett & Friends aired the same way on USA Network.

Thanks for clearing that up. I do not get TV Land and I only get The Hallmark Channel for half the day so I am not up to speed on what the channels are airing.
