Default Should I get a new computer?

Because it freezes every 5 minutes. I'll restart the computer, then it keeps on freezing. Should I get a new computer, is it just a virus, or low on memory?

I had that problem with my last computer before we got rid of it. It's probably just low on memory.

do a virus scan, scan for spyware, try to remove some of the programs that run in the background,

if all else fails, back up all your files and reinstall Windows...

how old is the computer? how fast is the processor, how much memory and free hard drive space do you have?

most likely, you just need to clean up some of the mess that Windows accumulates over time, but as computers get older they do have a hard time keeping up with the requirements of newer programs

I would call technical support first and see if they can help you fix the problem before you go and invest money in a new computer.

My computer was about 3 years old when it started doing that. My current one is about a year and a half old and we haven't had really had problems with it(no freezing up). Only 1 or 2 other problems that were easily fixed.

I think reloading Windows is the best thing to do now.

I had this problem with my old computer. Then my brilliant dad said we should upgrade Windows. Okay. Not a bad idea. Well, HE tried to do it. I told him I knew how (I've done it a hundred times before; it's not that hard) yet he insisted. He somehow ended up wiping out our WHOLE harddrive. I had so many valuable, rare songs on that thing

Anyway, my point is, if you reinstall Windows, be careful

VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL! If you do one tiny thing wrong you'll have bigger problems than you do now!

My computer is 5 years old and in perfect condition. I'm surprised it doesn't have problems. And Mackenzie, I think you should get someone to try and fix it and if they can't then get a new one

And they pull me behind, as I let off the pedal.
Why should I divide what feels so right?
Is this where I want to lay?

Your so right. I tried fixing my old computer one time without really knowing what I was doing and ended up deleting a bunch of files by mistake. I ended up having to start from scratch after that, Lucky for me I didn't have anything really importand on that pc. Now I always call technical support. They're really good at helping me fix problems and walking me through the steps.
