Now that you brought it up.... I remembered another one of my favorite quotes. Taken from the episode "Octboer Eve":
Laura : (talking about a secret after she got off the phone with Sally): I'm dieing to tell you. I just don't know how. Rob: You're alright aren't ya, honey. You're not gonna have another.... Laura: Oh Rob! Would Sally call and tell ME that? [This message has been edited by MtM fan (edited 08-21-2001).] |

One of my fave quotes is from "Coast to Coast Big Mouth".
Rob (To Alan):Whatever you were going to say to her (Laura), I'd prefer that you said to me. Alan:Rob, you're a beautiful girl.... I have a LOT of favorite lines, but I just can't think of any more! LOL Kristen ------------------ (After Mary's famous job interview) Lou Grant:You know what? You've got spunk! Mary Richards:Well, yes. Lou Grant:I HATE SPUNK!!! I don't know the name of the episode, but it dealt with the Mel quitting or getting fired--don't recall. Buddy said to Mel, "You can't leave. I got a trunkload of baldie jokes."

I love seemingly off-the-cuff remarks and that "would Sally call
and tell me that" is maybe the best and funniest. It's like a classic life moment. |

My favorite comes from "My Part-Time Wife". It was at the end when Rob was talking to Laura about why he didn't like her working with him. Laura told him, "I've been working like a horse." Then after a few more lines, she says, "Even a horse gets a lump of sugar." I not only love that line, but I love MTM's expression and the way she said it. Even after I've heard it over and over, I still laugh when I see it.

I've only recently joined the group, so I know this is an outdated post, but I had to share my favorite quote. In "Never Bathe on Saturday," after Rob has decided to break down the door, he takes a running start across the room and slams his entire body against it and recoils in a ball of pain, after a brilliant bit of timing, we hear Laura ask from the other side of the wall: "Did you hit it yet?"

My favorite quote comes from the ep where Mel quits and Rob, Buddy and Sally are all in Alan's office, talking him into hiring Mel back. Rob said something to Alan and, shooting back something meant to be sarcastic, he says, "....I hope you like it, Mr. Christian" (referring to the character in Mutiny on the Bounty"). And Buddy says, "Mr. Jewish likes it, too". I thought I would fall off of my chair laughing!! I know those werent the exact words, but it was a scream!! Kind of like the episode where Rob and Laura's parents are fighting over who's going to buried where and Buddy goes off into that tiraid of burial jokes and suggests they do a skit about Alan going into the frozen foods section of the supermarket and asking for any empty boxes. Its obvious why Morey Amsterdam was nicknamed "The Human Joke Machine"!!

I know there's so many quotes I love but can't think of right now. But some that come to mind....
Rob: Look Mel, if we have to we can go over your head. Buddy: Watch it Rob, it's slippery up there! And the quick interchange in "The Plots Thicken" (I think that's the right ep, where Rob and Laura's parents are fighting over where they'll be buried?) and everyone's fighting. Rob: Dad?! Sam Petrie: Shut up! Laura: Dad? Mr. Meehan: Shut up! Laura: (almost in tears) Rob?! Rob: Shut up! ROTFL! I guess it's more the look on Laura's face when Rob accidentally tells her to shut up that gets me. It's hilarious. I'll post more as I think of them. |
