Default The Amitville Horror movies and remake of the first one

The Amitville Horror was pretty good,it did not do well when it first came out in 1979 or 1980. They are going to remake the movie, they don't know when, the script has not even being worte yet. But it should be better now with the special effect and the computer animation that they have now days.Amitville 2 was not that good,Lori Laghin from Full House fame and Melian Griffin starred in it,Tony Robertds did also. I am kind iof wacthing Amitville 1992 It's About Time, I can't get into it thoguh. As you know the first movie was suppose to be a true account of what happen in the house that the oldest boy killed his family because a voice told him to. When the Laultzes moved in,for real cheap everything seem to go down hill. Well hopefully the remake will tell the true account of what really happen in the house.I think it's still standing also.

I've heard several Amityville movie rumours the past while. One is that there is going to be another sequel. Then, the next rumour is a remake of the original. Then, there's another rumour saying their isn't going to be a remake- but a movie of the 'actual events'- which sounds pointless.

I've only ever seen 'Amityville Dollhouse'- which was bad.

I'd didn't know that until I read this. I have a feeling there will be another film, in some way. (kind of like "Halloween", it goes on and on and on...) I think if it is a seequel, it needs to be a strong one. Though I haven't seen it, I've heard "Dollhouse" was horrible and loosely-connected. I also wouldn't mind seeing a remake with 2004 technology...just my thoughts.

Dollhouse was terrible- rented it from the video store. The house looks nothing like the original one- it's like a giant, unscary McMansion sort of house- with the only element for scares being the gas fireplace. The little girl finds a dollhouse- right behind it there's all these articles on the wall about the old house- ocassionally the people hear voices, the stepmother has incestuous thoughts (that part really unnerved me), and all this voodoo stuff happens that involves them entering the old house sort of. It's really messed up.

I need to see the original Amityville- but judging by sequels, amityville appears to be one of those lesser horror franchises with less and less interest- instead of the interest of Nightmare on Elm St it's sort of up there with 'Children of the Corn' and 'leprechaun' in terms of franchises.

Was just searching for news on the Amityville films when I found some articles- one says that 2 films entitled Amityville Horror were being made- one an account of George Lutz life, the other a direct remake. According to Cinescape.com- Dimension and MGM decided to abandon this and work on a direct remake.

As for the sequel- it's said to pick up 20 years after the book- but it's been in development forever- mightn't happen.

Also, Cinescape has a 2002 report that a tv series was being planned!

NEWS! Go to www.bloody-disgusting.com

For the remake, Dimension and MGM are looking extras (shooting in Buffalo Grove, Illinois and Wisconsin)- ages 7-17 and 18-24. According to bloody-disgusting, shooting will begin August 3rd and run till October 4th.

Go to http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/ind...plate=newsfull

It has full details. Also, it's still being set in the 70's!!

I will NOT watch the remake:

Be warned there is a terrible scene of animal abuse in this movie.

Additionally, it is so far removed from the original story that the films and rehashed sequals and prequals just move further and further into nothingness.

The original was an average flick at best.

But now the Lutz's have admitted that much of their story was not based on the exact truth. Several paranormal investigators have determined that many of the events in the original Amityvile Horror book, changed from edition to edition, even the names of the Lutzs' children have changed from Danny, Chris and Missy, to Greg, Matt, and Amy ,several times.

A book called The Amittiville Hoax by Dr. Steven Kaplan offers rational explanations for why the Lutz's choose to write the book in the first place. Hundreds of items are explained showing that the house was never haunted at all. The real reason that the family left was because the heat wasn't working in the house. Mr. Lutz had mortgage payments from the house and other debts that he couldn't afford. So they used the Defeo Murders (these are true.) to create a ghost story based on the Defeo murders.

The movies though are scary if you like that sort of thing. One question, what is this "bathtub sequence" in the remake that I keep hearing about?

Oh yea, I wanted to get the "Conspiracy" book, but it's out of print.

I didn't think the remake was too terrible, but I'll definately stick with the original.

I never saw the remake of The Amityville Horror, which I read in the paper was much better then the original. I saw the 1979 version about seven or eight years ago and I actually thought it was one of the worst movies ever made. I didn't find it scary one bit. More annoying then anything else.

I have only seen The Amityville Horror the Original,Amityville 2 The Possession,Amityville 3 or 3D and I remember Lori Laughlin and Meg Ryan I don't remember Melanie Griffin ever being in Amityville 3 and I saw Amityville 4 and though I'm not a scary movie fan I actually like them.

I saw Amityville Dollhouse but I didn't like it.The other thousand [sarcasm on thounsand]Amityville movies including the recent one I haven't seen.

I can't watch a movie with any kind of animal abuse in it, that crap sticks in my head more than anything else does. Why do they do that anyways? It isn't entertaining at all! Like The Ring for instance, why did they ave to drag that forse on the fairy scene out for sooo long it seemed. I think it actually takes away from a good story really.

That crap pisses me off, too. I hate it.

Makes me think of the family dog from Halloween. We didn't need to see that.

I've yet to meet someone who does like it, so if so many people don't like it, than why bother putting it in? Doesn't make sense to me

It doesn't make sense to me, either. Exactly, why bother when it's obvious that nobody likes it.. least not anyone I've met.
