FOX Gives 'Beene' the Boot, Adds 'Simple' Encores
By Brian Ford Sullivan LOS ANGELES (www.thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX continued to make changes to its summer schedule over the holiday weekened, dumping its burn-off run of "Oliver Beene" and adding an encore run of "The Simple Life's" second season. Both moves affect the network's Sunday schedule as FOX will slide "King of the Hill" and "Malcolm in the Middle" to 7:00/6:00c and 7:30/6:30c respectively beginning July 11. "The Simple Life" will then encore it sophomore season at 9:00/8:00c while "The Simpsons," "Arrested Development" and the Sunday "Quintuplets" encore will remain in their current slots. The shuffle comes of the heels FOX's decision to bump original episodes of "The Jury" to Friday nights at 9:00/8:00c (read the story). Overall, FOX's revised schedule plans to fan the flames of its successful Wednesday lineup, adding twice-a-week encores of "Method & Red" (Tuesdays at 8:30/7:30c and Fridays at 8:30/7:30c) and "Quintuplets" (Sundays at 9:30/8:30c and Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30c) not to mention its double run of "The Simple Life." As for "Beene," the news leaves a half-dozen episodes of the short-lived comedy on the shelf. |
