Default Raise. Reraise. Call! All in! Bet! Fold! Am I the only one addicted to Texas Hold em?

I've been playing lately. Waaaay too much, all the time on the weekends. The World Series of Poker 2004 debuts tonight on ESPN at 8 p.m. CST. I plan on watching.

Anybody else enjoy this wonderfully addicting game?

Whoa, I'm really addicted to it! I know you don't find many 15 year olds who can play poker but I grew up in a family playing cards constantly. Name a game and I can play it Anyway, I used to prefer your classic 7 stud, but once I fond this game I fell in love with it.

At first I couldn't play the game worth crap, because I kept forgetting that there was still the turn and river after the flop.. I just used to fold when I had a crappy hand right after the flop was laid. Then I was taught to bet by betting on Tootsie Rolls, because my uncle wanted to teach me to properly bet so I didn't go bankrupt one day Let's just say it took a few weeks to get used to.

Do you watch Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo? That's my weakness... I live for that show.

I love to play hold em.
Have you tried Turbo Texas Holdem? It's a great Computer game. Arguably one of the best Holdem simulation games.

I have been playing for a while now. Some of the regulars at my favorite bar get a game going almost every night. It's usually a 20 dollar buy in, 20 gets you 40. I've won a few times, but if I can outlast as many opponents as I can, I'm happy. The last few times I've played I've done rather poorly though.
We're hoping to sponsor a player to play in an amateur tournament soon.
Of course gambling for money in a NEW York City bar is illegal, so you didn't hear any of this from me.

K, Lamebrain Pete?

I've never played Texas Hold em. I rarely ever get to play poker, but I love it. I need to find me a better group of friends, LOL.

In hs, there would be these dances sponsored by school clubs, and in the back there would be all these gambling tables. Obviously, we couldn't use real money which was weak, but we used these tickets that you'd put into raffles. I'd always be at the poker table stomping all over the underclassmen, heh heh. I'd go to the dance with a group of friends, but they'd all be on the floor. I was almost always the only girl playing too.

Is that the game where three cards are dealt to each player then there's a betting round, followed by one community card, then a second betting round, yadda yadda, for a total of 5 rounds?

There are 5 betting rounds, but players are dealt 5 cards each with 5 cards on the table (betting in between the flipping up of each community card), and the lowest community card and all other cards of that rank are wild.

And least that's what this book says. I've never actually played. Cincinnati is a more common game (and I've actually played it)... it's the same as Lamebrain except there are no wild cards.

Wow good job! Sounds like a lot of fun. I ought to go to some tournaments. But then, I'd probably be too scared to play against people I don't know. They're probably real card sharks at places like that. I may have beat all the kids in high school, but that's nothin', lol.

Many girls at this tournament?

It is kind of intimmidating playing against all these players that are 3-4x your age, but you just gotta go out there and play your game. That was only the 2nd casino tournament I've ever played in.

Girls..? Let me try to count. Maybe 3 or 4 females.

My best friend is addicted to the game. I don't play because I'm not a big fan of poker at all.

Oh, I bet. I'd be really intimidated, myself. And I think being about the only young female would add to that. I would be just fine playing against all guys closer to my age though. Then again, I don't know if they'd really want one girl up in their game, lol.
