Default Favorite Beach Boys album

The Beach Boys have made some great albums, as well as some terrible ones (especially in the '80s and '90s).

What is your absolute favorite Beach Boys album?

I've amended my list since SMiLE has now been released. To me, it's no longer an unreleased Beach Boys album, but a full-fledge Brian Wilson release (and masterpiece).

1. Friends
2. Sunflower
3. Pet Sounds
4. Love You
5. Holland
6. Today!
7. Surf's Up
8. Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)
9. In Concert
10. Wild Honey

Summer In Paradise!? Smoke a lot of dope, do you, son? Sure, it was produced by the late, great Terry Melcher, but that doesn't stop it from being a steaming pile of garbage.

And that damn remake of "Forever" with Uncle Jesse on vocals? Wouldn't have happened if the songwriter and original vocalist, Dennis Wilson, was still alive.

Oh, one last thing - Bummer In Paradise, as it's referred to by real Beach Boy fans, is the only album that Brian Wilson didn't participate in (besides co-writing "Surfin'" thirty years prior). It's nothing but Mike Love's wet dream.

Brian Wilson is a no talent hack, Mike Love wrote the best and biggest hit in their entire career Kokomono

Mike Love will always be the true talent in The Beach Boys, thats why Kokomo was a #1 hit. I saw them live last year and they were better than ever

I have no reply to that other than to tell you that I now need to pick my jaw up off of the floor.

The "Beach Boys" you saw last year were not The Beach Boys. The band ceased to exist in 1998 when Carl Wilson passed away. What you saw was Mike Love (the real "no-talent hack), Bruce Johnston (who I actually like) and a group of background musicians try and relive the Beach Boys' glory days. It seems more like a tribute band to me.

They're as much The Beach Boys as the Traveling Wilburys are The Beatles.

And please, tell me Brian Wilson is a "no talent hack" after you've listened to the albums Pet Sounds, Friends, Love You and Smile. In the interest of fairness, I'd listen to Looking Back With Love, but I prefer to keep my neural capacities for as long as possible.

I know it's a cliched opinion, but I choose "Pet Sounds."

"Sunflower" is a fairly close second, though. "SMiLE" would be second, if it were an actual BB's release.
