Default "Life With Them"

"Life With Them" is a new ABC sitcom, starring Woody Harrelson and Joan Cusack as an engaged couple with each a daughter from their previous marriage who disapproves of the marriage to the other family. Woody Harrelson plays Rick Thompson, a widowered hardware store owner. Joan Cusack plays Jill Foster-Thompson, a divorced 4th grade teacher at an elementary school. Rick's daughter, Amanda Thompson (Ashley Johnson), 21, and Jill's daughter, Melissa Foster (Michelle Tractenberg), 19, don't get along one bit. Melissa and Amanda both wish their parents wouldn't marry each other. Melissa's parents are divorced, but Melissa wishes they would get back together someday. Amanda's mom died when Amanda was 10 years old. Amanda and her dad have been without a mother for Amanda and a wife for Rick for the past 11 years. Amanda feels she and her dad were doing fine without a "mother-figure" around. Rick and Amanda move into Jill and Melissa's home. To make matters worse, the two girls are forced to share a bedroom and a bathroom together.
In the season premiere, The Thompsons move into the Fosters's home. After many dilemmas, problems, and feuds; in the season finale, Rick and Jill get married. As the season winds down, the girls's feuds decreased and a bond is born.

"Life With Them"
Season One Episodes


Ep1: Moving Day:
Rick and Amanda move into Jill and Melissa's house. Melissa and Amanda both aren't too fond of sharing a bedroom with each other, let alone a bathroom.

Ep2: Breaking The News:
Jill's mother, Hillary (Dixie Carter) visits and immediately disapproves of her daughter's fiancee and the idea of moving in together before marriage. Hillary decides to stay even longer than welcomed, which drives Jill and Rick crazy. Amanda feels ignored in Hillary's presence, as Melissa is spoiled rotten by her grandmother.

Ep3: Like It Or Not:
Jill finally gets the nerve to tell her mom that she is marrying Rick no matter how her mom feels about Rick at a fancy restaurant. Hillary feels hurt that her only daughter just told her off in public. Amanda gets the nerve to ask the neighbor guy, Kevin (Ashton Kutcher) out on a date. Melissa becomes jealous that Amanda asked out her crush and that Kevin seems to like Amanda.

Ep4: The Concert:
Rick gets two free tickets off the radio to a Usher concert. Rick gives them to Amanda. Amanda and Kevin decide to go to the concert, but at last minute, Kevin comes down with the flu. Rick and Jill tell Amanda she should take Melissa to the concert. Melissa and Amanda go to the concert, and surprisingly they have a good time.

Ep5: The Friend's Party:
Melissa's friend (and Kevin's little sister), Sarah (Madeline Zima) is having a party. Melissa is invited and is showing that she is really looking forward to going to the party. Kevin gets Amanda invited within moments notice. At the party, Melissa and Amanda cross paths, and thats when the tension rises.

Ep6: Jill's Bridal Shower:
Jill has her bridal shower. Jill invites her closest female friends, her and Rick's sisters, her and Rick's female cousins, her and Rick's aunts, her and Rick's mothers, Amanda, and Melissa. But when time comes for the party to start, the two girls are nowhere to be found. Jill is forced to leave her own bridal shower early with Rick to go off to find the girls. (Amanda is at Kevin's apartment, Melissa is at Sarah's house)

Ep7: The Punishment:
Rick and Jill are angry to find that their daughters are always at each other's throats and can't seem to get along. Rick and Jill decide to send Melissa and Amanda off to be a psychologist in hope of solving the several feuds between the two.

Ep8: The Scare Of A Lifetime:
Jill takes a series of home pregnancy test after realizing she may be pregnant. The thought of Jill being pregnant puts everyone in a worried state of mind while Jill and the family awaits the results of the tests. Melissa takes off minutes after learning her mom may be pregnant with her fiancee's baby. Jill becomes terribly hurt that Melissa called her a "slut" just before she left the house. The ending result of all the tests are negative.

Ep9: Real Problem:
Melissa brings her current "boyfriend", Matt (Billy Aaron Brown) over for dinner with Jill, Rick, Amanda, and Kevin. The truth gets out when Melissa tells them that she and Matt aren't dating, never have, and that Matt is just a friend of hers. Melissa also confesses that she was just jealous of Amanda dating Kevin.

Ep10: Trouble Awaits:
Amanda and Kevin (Ashton Kutcher), both of age, attend a bar/club where the two have a little too much to drink. They, both drunk, drive home afterwards only to get caught by Jill and Rick. Rick and Jill have a talk with the two about drinking and driving. Melissa sneaks out past curfew with Sarah (Madeline Zima) to a college party, where drinking is here. Both underage, Sarah and Melissa both consume alcohol and become too wasted to drive home and call home for a ride. Jill and Rick pick them up and they have a talk with them two about underage drinking.

Ep11: Vacationing With The Neighbors:
Jill and Rick decide to go to Florida for a week with Sarah and Kevin's parents (the family's neighbors), Greg and Nadine. Rick, Jill, Greg (Tim Allen), and Nadine (Jamie Lee Curtis) have a blast in Florida without the kids. Back home: Kevin, Sarah, Amanda, and Melissa decide to throw a party at the Foster-Thompson home yet the party is not all fun and games when the cops show up.

Ep12: A Daughter and A Boyfriend:
Rick notices that AManda and Kevin are spending a lot more time together lately and is worried that they are having sex. Rick talks about his worry with Jill, who along with Rick decides to confront the two. AManda and Kevin tell them they aren't having sex. But Rick doesn't trust their word, even though its the truth.

Ep13: The Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties:
Rick, Kevin, Greg (Tim Allen), and other men decide to hire a stripper for the bachelor at Greg's house, but the stripper turns out to be a male stripper. Rick and the other men are unhappy with the surprise. Jill, Melissa, Amanda, Sarah, Nadine (Jamie lee Curtis), and other women decide to go to a spa for Jill's bachelorette party. At the spa, in private, Amanda and Melissa make a pact: not to fight or dislike each other as much from here on out; but just most siblings fight on occasion. Jill accidentally overhears the girls talking and is soo happy.

Ep14: The Foster-Thompson Wedding:
Rick and Jill finally get married. Amanda and Melissa are Jill's co-maids of honor. Rick and Jill's friends and family all show up. At the reception, Melissa's friend, Matt (Billy Aaron Brown) asks her out on a date, she accepts.

Ep15: The Honeymoon: (season finale)
Jill and Rick head off to the Bahamas for their honeymoon. Melissa, Matt, Amanda, and Kevin all double date together, and have a great time together. Kevin's little sister/Melissa and Amanda's friend, Sarah (Madeline Zima) tells Melissa, Kevin, and Amanda that she thinks she is pregnant.
