Question How much longer do you think Family Ties has on TV Land?

I was wondering, how much longer do you guys think TV Land will keep Family Ties on their schedule? Last winter, when they aired that 48 hour FT marathon, I was watching it every chance I got, and was hoping the show would be a hit on the channel, but I had my doubts about its future for some reason. I probably had doubts because the show didn't seem to last long on Nick @ Nite, and I was afraid that FT might be too new for TV Land. I thought the show wouldn't be welcomed by the classic TV fans. (as FT is a "modern TV classic")

In any event, I really need to stop taking this show for granted. (I've been missing episodes left and right) This show could be taken off at any time...like Growing Pains and The Wonder Years on other channels. (I took those for granted, too...) Even if it is only aired once a day, I hope it stays on for a long time...we'll see.

We need to start a site & have everyone who's a Family Tie's fan to sign a petition to have it on at 6 pm & 11pm on tvland.

Family Ties is a funny show.

Nick will give it the shaft as soon as Bill Cosby exerts his authority and decrees that his shows do not air enough.

He is an egomaniac.

I like "Family Ties" because it's a very good show than "Full House" which is another competitor to that show.

Well the writing seems to be on the wall.

Family Ties had a very short run on TBS- It couldn't cut it there.

It was on Nick several times. Each time, it was downsized and pushed further back in the timeslots.

Now the same thing is happening on TVLand.

The evidence is obvious,: It just doesn't get good enough ratings to be on the air.

Nick at Nite has given it several chances as have other networks.

If Family Ties is to survive (at any network) my guess is that it will have to be as late night filler.

If you are fan of the show, tape as many episodes as you can now. I would be surprised if this show doesn't dissapear entirely- soon.

Family Ties is one of my favorite shows.

In fact, it is the ONLY 80's sitcom that deserves to be on TV Land. I think the 50's through 70's should be on, except 1-hour boring shows like Bonanza, MacGyver, Waltons, etc. And then Family Ties. The writing for Alex P. Keaton has to be the best for any TV show character in history.

Family Ties should indeed have a petition; lets all e-mail TV Land requesting it's extended airings; however, I like the 11 PM time slot, because I like the 9PM-1AM times the best.

What's going on...I don't think Family Ties has been on for the past few days. Is this a temporary thing?

It sickens me to see shows like Family Ties and Whos the Boss? getting hardly ANY airtime yet shows like Fresh Prince and Full House getting half the night on Nick@Nite. Sadly I dont think FT has much longer on TV Land. FT def. deserves a reasonable timeslot.

Yeah, but there were a few nights where it wasn't on, due to some TV Land Top 10 special. Family Ties is back now, tho.

I think the reason that it hasn't done well on TBS, N@N, TVLand is because it hasn't had a chance. It's easy to say it has, but if it honestly had been given a chance or rolyal treatment like for example cough the cosby show cough, then of course it would have done much better. How can the show be expected to do well when for the most part it's had late night times and even the few times it had good time slots there was hardly if any advertising (in the form of commericals) for it. For example TCS, Full House, Roseanne, etc. get tons of commerical time,. So they do better because of that and because of the time slots they get. Family Ties is just as good of a show as other shows, it just hasn't had it's time to shine, which is sad. Family Ties does deserve to be on the air. Just because it doesn't pull in millions of ratings like godawful cosby does, doesn't mean it should be shelved altogether. If other shows esp. Cosby had been treated like Family Ties has been, it surely would not do as well.
You are entitled to your opinion, but WHY must people come and post if they are only going to be negative about Family Ties? We(the fans of Family Ties) don't want to read such things. So please anyone who wants to rant about Family Ties in a bad way please find somewhere else to do it.

I apologize if my post upset you. But, it was NOT negative. It was what I feel was a very objective summary of the state of Family Ties in syndication.

I agree with you: It's going to be difficult for any show to get ratings with a 4am timeslot

However, that's where you find the Catch-22. The show wouldn't have such a crappy timeslot if it had good ratings. I can remember at least one instance where it had either the 10pm or 11pm time slot. So it's a little unfair to say they've never given it a chance.

Network executives are in the business of making money. They are going to air the shows that make them the most money. Period. The logical conclusion would be that Family Ties isn't cutting it financially. I didn't knock the quality of the show.

I lost track, but I spent at least two frustrating years recording Family Ties to DVD. It took that long beacuse Nick constantly skips episodes.

If I disliked Family Ties, I wouldn't be in a fan forum.

I think it could possibly stay on TVLAND for a little bit longer. I mean I don't think the ratings were so horrible to justify dropping the show, I mean supposedly Wings' ratings on N@N are supposed to be so bad to justify a 4 am timeslot, but I don't believe that. N@N never had any faith in the show, same with FT and Charles in Charge, and Head of the Class, they never gave these shows a chance to shine.

I totally agree. Nick@Nite and TV Land just dont have faith in some shows. Shows like Roseanne, Cosby, Full House and the upcoming Fresh Prince are favored by Nick@Nite. Id like to see Fresh Prince not do well. I wonder what Nick@Nite will do if it totally bombs.
