What did you all think of that pilot. The plot was the same with the two different characters with alot of changes in the lines but alot of lines still the same. I thought it was pretty funny but not as funny as with Chrissy and Janet. I really didn't like how the Mrs. Roper character was I like that they went a different way with her character. And I didn't really like the Jenny character plus I thought the actress who played her wasn't all that great of an actress. I did like the Samatha character.

samantha, if i'm getting my characters right, sent me mixed signals. it seemed that she had a sexual side to her indirectly, but at others she was dead set agaisnt jack having the wrong idea about the apt. i think janet's character was created a bit more ..realistic. but, samantha was deff. awesome. i liked her attitude about things. probably woulda been a good foil for jack.

The only bad things were the opening theme & the chemistry between the trio,

The first time I watched the pilot, I thought it was a total mess. Watching parts of it for the second time, I didn't think it was so bad. Most of the best jokes were used in later TC episodes. I thought it was odd that Jenny was so obsessed with sex, but I preferred her character to Samantha. The actress playing Samantha seemed to have absolutely no comedic timing. The pilot had funny moments, but it definitely lacked the chemistry the final three roommates had.

She does, but Valerie Curtin, who played Jenny, is one of the funniest TV actresses who never really made it big. She was the best part of the TV version of "9 to 5". She also played a beatnik poet in an episode of "Happy Days" where Richie got involved with the beatnik crowd and was again very funny. In addition, she has written some movies and some episodes of "Mary Tyler Moore".

I thought both both Valerie Curtin and Suzanne Zenor did pretty well in the second pilot, although I didn't like them as much as Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers (which I expected, since I'm so used to seeing them instead of VC and SZ). Their chemistry with John Ritter was definitely different, but still pretty good.
I didn't have a problem with how Helen was portrayed; I didn't really notice that much of a difference, lol. The only part I didn't like was the horrid theme. |
