I don't remember what year it originally aired, but it was about a couple who was driving and had their car hit by another car, which drove away. The couple followed the car and they got into a wild chase.
They finally got the car to stop, and the guy who was driving the car that had gotten hit ended up killing the driver of the other car. And as it turned out, they had followed the wrong car and killed an innocent person. At the trial, the killer was found guilty, and his wife could be seen on camera saying something like "We have to do it, you promised me" or something to that effect. Their car is found on a bridge, empty. They go missing, and police are skeptical that they commited suicide A few months (or years?) later, the decomposed torso of a human is found in the river near the bridge where the car was found. The remains are then positively ID'ed as those of the Wife of the killer. I can still vividly recall the footage of the press conference where the police announce their findings, and a woman can be heard in the audience gasping (it's pretty chilling). Anyways, has the guy been found, dead or alive? Does anyone know which case I am talking about? Any info would be great. Thanks! |

The couple you are talking about is Alan and Alaina Emery. We have had much discussion about this case on the board. As far as I know him or his remains have never been found. It happened in Rhode Island but I don't remember the date.

What do you guys think happened to Alaina, murdered by her husband or suicide? It was stated in the segment that Adam and Alaina were seen at a sportswear store after the trial buying ankle weights and ropes. The man that helped them out at the store said that the couple seemed fine and not under any stress.

That's what I mean...the whole thing is nuts. If they were going to kill themselves, why would he have been upset at the cost of the weights? And why was she acting all happy?
Crazy... |

By the way, my sister went to high school with the actor who played Adam Emery. His name is Eddie Rutkowski. |
