This is a story that I made around Easter time, and I think it's a fanfic.
Beaver’s Easter “Wally! Wally! Wake up! It’s Easter!” Beaver Cleaver shook his sleeping brother Wally. “Pipe down, will ya?” Wally answered sleepily. “Gee Wally, I can’t help it! Easter is one of my favorite holidays!” Beaver cried. “Yeah, yeah...” Wally mumbled. He sat up in his bed. Wally is in high school. “What a kid.” he thought. He chuckled and shook his head. Beaver had already raced downstairs. “Hey Mom! Hey Dad!” Beaver exclaimed when he rushed into the kitchen. “Beaver what are you doing up so early?” his mother June asked. She was cooking scrambled eggs. She stood all dressed up as usual, with her apron, high heels, and pearls on. “Yeah Beav, I know it’s Easter, but I didn’t expect you to be up this early.” his father Ward chimed in. He sipped his coffee and read the paper as he sat at the table. He was in one of his best suits. “Well, I can’t help it Dad! I couldn’t wait for the Easter Egg hunt, and the Easter candy! Sometimes the Easter Bunny even leaves me a present or two!” Beaver’s voice turned to a shrill. “Well, okay Beaver.” Ward chuckled. “How many eggs do you want Beaver?” June asked. “Two’ll be fine thanks!” Beaver replied as he sat down at the table. “Is Wally up?” June inquired. “Yeah, I woke him - but now I’m almost sorry I did!” “Well Beav, I guess you could say when you get older you don’t look at things like Easter, the way you do when you’re a kid.” Ward explained. “Yeah, I guess so Dad!” Beaver replied. “Now Beaver, I want you to wear your blue suit to church today. They are having a special sermon.” June instructed as she served Beaver his eggs. “Yes Mom.” Beaver answered a little absently. He still couldn’t understand why Wally wasn’t as excited as he was. He also still couldn’t wait for all of the fun things he was going to do today. Just then Wally walked into the kitchen. “Well good morning Wally!” Ward cheered. “Up so soon?” “Good morning Mom, good morning Dad. Yeah, Beaver woke me up.” Wally shot a tired glance at the Beaver as he sat next to him at the breakfast table. “How many eggs do you want Wally?” June asked. “Oh just give me eight or nine, and then I’ll let ya know!” Wally replied. June smiled and put three eggs on his plate. “Now eat up! You want to get a good breakfast before church.” June scolded. “Sure Mom!” Beaver exclaimed. “Yes Mom.” Wally replied. “You know boys, I don’t want you to think that Easter is all about bunnies, eggs, and candy. Now remember it is about how Jesus died on the cross for us.” Ward lectured. “I know Dad, but gee, I wanna think about happy things on Easter! Not about people dyin’!” Beaver cried. “Yeah Dad, it would probably ruin his whole day!” Wally chuckled. “Now just a minute boys. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be happy on Easter, I just want you to remember what it’s all about.” Ward explained patiently. “Yes sir.” Beaver replied. “Yes sir.” Wally answered. After church, Wally and Beaver asked if they could walk home. They walked on the sidewalk, and happened to run into someone. “Boy oh boy Wally! This is gonna be great! I wonder where the eggs are hidden this year!” “Will you cool it Beav? I don’t want people to hear ya, and think I got a goofy little kid for a brother!” Wally retorted. At that moment, they saw Eddie Haskell walking in their direction. “Oh boy.” Beaver groaned. Eddie Haskell was always getting him and Wally into trouble. He is Wally’s friend. “Hiya Sam!” Eddie cackled. “You stuck babysittin’?” “Hi Eddie” Wally answered. “Hi Eddie.” Beaver replied. “What are you two all dressed up for?” Eddie asked. “We just came back from church.” Beaver replied. “Oh, I see. Your parents makin’ ya, huh?” Eddie teased. “They’re not makin’ us, we wanna go!” Wally shot back, a little annoyed. Wally didn’t always have much patience with Eddie. “Okay, okay Gertrude. Don’t have a cow.” Eddie retorted, in his wise-guy manner. “Are you going to look for the eggs the Easter bunny left Eddie?” Beaver inquired. “Are you kiddin’ kid? There ain’t no Easter bunny!” Eddie laughed. Beaver frowned. “What are you talkin’ about Eddie? Who hides the Easter eggs every Easter? And who brings the Easter basket with candy and stuff in it?” Beaver cried. Eddie grinned. “Who do ya think kid? Your parents! Who else?” “Aw, cut it out Eddie!” Wally scowled. “Don’t listen to him Beav.” “Alright, alright. Don’t believe me! But don’t come cryin’ to me when you find out the truth.” “Aw, go on Eddie!” Wally waved his arm at him, as if to brush away his remarks. Wally and Beaver walked away. “Is it true Wally? Is the Easter bunny all made up?” Beaver asked worried. “Don’t listen to Eddie, Beaver. He’s just givin’ ya the business.” Wally encouraged. Beaver wondered if the Easter bunny was real. He got lost in thought as he approached his house. He sure hoped Eddie had made it all up, as usual, but this time he wasn’t so sure. When they entered the house the boys went up to their room. Their parents would be home shortly. Wally hadn’t seen Beaver so disappointed. He wanted to do something to restore Beaver’s faith in the Easter Bunny. But what? Just then the boys heard a car pull into the driveway. The boys gazed out their bedroom window. Their parents were home. Wally went downstairs. He wanted to talk to his parents about what happened with Eddie Haskell. He wanted to see if they knew what to do. Beaver was too lost in thought to go greet his parents. He lay silently on his bed, gazing up at the ceiling with searching eyes. Was everything he believed about Easter all a lie? Was it his parents who were hiding the eggs, and leaving goodies in his Easter basket? Wally greeted his parents. “Hi Mom, hi Dad. Um - can I ask ya something? It’s about the Beaver.” Wally asked. “Did something happen on the way home?” June asked worried. “Well yeah - sort of - uh we sorta ran into Eddie Haskell on the way home and uh - he kind of told the Beaver that the Easter Bunny isn’t real.” Wally explained. Ward and June exchanged worried glances. They knew this would happen sooner or later. “Well this is just terrible! Now Beaver’s Easter is spoiled!” June cried. “Where is Beaver now?” Ward asked. “He’s upstairs in his room. He’s just laying there on his bed staring at the ceiling! He looks like he got hit by a truck or something!” Wally exclaimed. “Well, I guess I should go up and have a talk with him, but I don’t know what to say!” Ward looked disturbed. “That’s what I wanted to ask ya!” Wally explained. “I wondered if there was anything I could do to make Beaver believe in the Easter Bunny again.” There was a moment of silence, and suddenly an idea came to Wally. “I’ve got it!” he cried. His eyes grew wide. He raced out the door and slammed the door behind him. He had the perfect plan to make Beaver believe in the Easter Bunny again. “Okay Eddie, so do we have a deal?” Wally asked. “Yeah, sure Sam.” Eddie replied. Wally had bought an Easter Bunny suit. Eddie was going to wear it late that night. He would sneak in, and try to make enough noise to wake Beaver up. He was going to sneak into the door, drop off a note, and pretend that he wasn’t trying to wake anybody up. This way Beaver would believe that the Easter Bunny came. “I’ll take care of the note. You come by later and pick it up, okay?” “Yeah.” Eddie grumbled. When Wally went home he quietly explained the plan to his parents. “Oh, Wally I think it’s so nice what you are doing for your brother.” June beamed. “Yeah son, it’s comforting as a parent to know that your kids care about each other.” Ward encouraged. “Yeah Dad, for a little squirt he’s not so bad!” Wally chuckled. That night when everyone was asleep, Beaver heard a noise downstairs. He sat up in his bed. What could that be? It sounded like someone was downstairs. Beaver quickly put on his robe and slippers to see what was going on. He peered behind the stairs. His eyes widened, and he rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. Nope, he was right, the Easter Bunny was standing in his living room! He stood as quietly as he could. He didn’t dare make a sound. The Easter Bunny dropped off a note onto the floor, along with something else, - he couldn’t tell what it was. He waited for the Easter Bunny to leave. As soon as the Easter Bunny left, Beaver raced downstairs. “Oh boy! Was Eddie Haskell ever wrong! The Easter Bunny is real!” Beaver thought anxiously. He unfolded the note. It read: “Dear Beaver, A little bird told me that you were discouraged from believing in me. With me I brought a golden egg from my workshop, that is made out of fourteen carrot gold! (Get it? Carrot? Haha!) I want you to put this egg in a safe place, where you won’t lose it. Every Easter you can think of me, or whenever you choose to look at it. Your friend, The Easter Bunny” Beaver beamed, and shook with happiness. With trembling hands, he picked up an object wrapped in pink tissue paper. He unwrapped it. It was a golden egg alright! He quickly raced upstairs to tell his brother. Wally would never believe this! He raced up to his bedroom and shook his brother. “Wally, Wally! The Easter Bunny just came! He left a note, and a golden egg from his workshop! It’s made out of fourteen karat gold!” Beaver cried. “Go to sleep Beaver.” Wally mumbled. Beaver shrugged, and went back downstairs. He got his note and golden egg, and brought it up to his room. He slipped the note and the egg into a small, wooden box. He got it for his birthday from his Uncle Billy. It had a blue toy truck painted on it. “I’ll never forget this.” Beaver thought. “This is the best Easter ever!” he whispered before he fell asleep. When Beaver woke up, Wally was in the bathroom washing up. “Hey Wally!” Beaver cheered as he walked into the bathroom. “Hey Beav.” Wally answered as he rubbed some aftershave lotion on his face. “Thanks - for everything.” Beaver beamed at his brother. “What are you talkin’ about?” Wally asked. “You know - for telling the Easter Bunny about what happened with Eddie Haskell.” Beaver explained. “Aw, it was nothin’ Beav.” Wally answered gallantly. “You’re the nicest big brother ever!” Beaver cried. “Now don’t start gettin’ all mushy on me Beav, or I’ll have to sock ya one!” Wally warned his brother. “Yeah, sure Wally . . .sure.” Beaver smiled. |
