I always go right to the extras! The Emmy awards clips are great.
And I loved the clip from 'Dick Van Dyke and the Other Woman!' First, because of the rare footage of Dick crying as Rob Petrie. Second, because this special seems like the bridge between Laura Petrie and Mary Richards. When Mary Tyler Moore started her sitcom, she stopped looking or acting like Laura Petrie and never did again. She's always seemed like Mary Richards since. But in the Van Dyke special, she still looked a bit like Laura Petrie, while starting to become Mary Richards. In every appearance with Dick Van Dyke after this, MTM hasn't seemed like Laura Petrie at all. Does that make any sense? Also, dig that crazy outfit Mary was wearing! I was born in 1969, and I'll be forever grateful that the late sixties and seventies fashions skipped me!

Shall I admit that I saw DVD and The Other Woman the night it originally aired? But...I'm young at heart! :-D
I don't remember...why was Rob crying? Can't even imagine. |

That's great! I wish I had been alive then to see all the great sixties television! Every favorite show I've had to see in reruns.
As for Rob crying, the scene was filmed differently at Dick Van Dyke's request. He wanted to use the same dialogue but perform it as if he was crying. Priceless! I'm so glad the producers of the DVD included it! |

Ohhhh, I wish I would have been alive too. I'm only 12, so I haven't seen many original airings of any of my favorite shows. That's always the best, to see the originial! I bet though, if you were alive then, that yes, you are still young at heart. -----Jessica

Well, then, I applaud you! 12 and you recognize that art from another era can be worthwhile...that's kinda rare. Good for you!
