Sadly the American flag that we used to put up on my house ripped ages ago, probably from being weathered so much.. we really should get a new one..

I'm glad they're honoring Reagan this way.

That's some useful information about the black ribbons and stuff. I've always wondered what you were supposed to do with a flag that couldn't be lowered.

If I was REALLY confused, I would just put up no flag.

when will the flag stop flying at Half-Staff? It's been like that for awhile.

Also, are people allowed to fly their own flags at Half-Staff say if someone in their family died?

I don't think so, because it's not a national thing. I'm not trying to be rude, but I think it's just presidents, and war heroes.

Yeah that's what I thought. But I could have sworn that my school flew theirs at half-staff when students have died.

It should end just after July 4th. Reagan died June 5th, the order was for 30 days I believe, so it should end July 5th(or close to that).

The rules as far as I know are 30 days from the death of a president/former president; 10 days from the day of death of the VP, chief justice, or speaker of the house; from the day of death to the day of interment for a justice of the supreme court, a secretary of an executive or military department, a former vice president, or a state governor; and on the day of death and the following day for a senator or congressman

And no, the flag can only be flown at half-staff by order of the President or a state governer

I remember the flags flying at half-staff at schools after deadly shootings and stuff like that. Also after 9/11, flags were at half-staff for a LONG time.
