new Boyz II men cover Cd - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

They are going to release a new Cd on their own label MSM in August. The bass singer has retired and the album will be made up entirely of cover songs including What You Won't Do for Love, Sara Smile, You Make Me Feel Brand New, Let it Whip and Close the Door. I like them well enough, but I can't imagine them doing some of these songs (Let it Whip???) and the bass singer Michael's retirement is going to leave a big hole in their sound.

Thanks JA for the info. Why did he retire??? I loved his voice, he was like the Melvin Franklin of that group. Interesting.

I really don't know. I think he had a medical condition which is why he walked with the stick, but I don't know if that is why he retired. Their website is down at the moment.

I heard this cd in the record shop and it is actually a lot better than I thought it would be. Let it Whip actually improves on the original in that the vocal harmonies are tighter. I think what makes this a better than usual affair for them is the songwriting is better than usual and far less cliched than what they would normally compose themselves or hire someone to write for them. Songwriting is not this group's forte at all. SOme of the songs have been recorded ad infinitim but they actually manage to do credible covers of You Make Me Feel Brand New, Time Will Reveal and Cutie Pie. It enters the Billboard r&B list at #8 this week I doubt it will sell a bundle of copies as I think their career is on the wane, but What You Won't Do for Love is #61 on the R&B chart so they are getting some airplay. Sara Smile is being promoted at adult contemporary radio too.

I noticve that on the cd they are credited as each having phDs. What school gave them honorary degrees?
