Default Rod Stewart

Anyone like this guy's music? I didn't care for him when he was in his glam rock phase in the 70s or the corporate rock/ mock punk thing in the 80s but once he calmed down and became an adult contemporary star in the 90s I began to like his music. He isn't deep like Sting nor is his music heavy in bathos like Phil Collins. His stuff is fun. You get the feeling that he is having a ball singing those songs and that he isn't taking himself seriously but has enough vocal ability to carry off all the cover songs. I'd rather hear his versions of those oldies than Fred Astaire anytime. The only thing is he seems like a bit of a womanizing lush, but a ot of these pop singers live that life.

I agree with you James! Rod Stewart is a great singer - I too have always gotten the impression that he really enjoys what he is doing.

My mom go me into Rod Stewart when I was a little kid. I really enjoy his 60s output with the Faces. I also like his 70s output- even the discoesque songs

I agree that his 80s contribution was a bit.. how can I say..extreme with a bit of cheeze. But then again, what wasn't back then. I enjoy those songs too but more for nostalgic reasons.

Pick up his Storyteller Anthology 4 CD box set if you get the chance. It spans his career from the 60s (with the Faces) through his early 90s output. Very good compilation to say the least

My mom is heavily into his latest move of redoing the "crooner classics" I must say that I enjoy them too. It's nice to hear those old songs with a newer twist

Yeah, I'm more of a fan of his Faces and early solo stuff. I don't like much of anything he did after that.

"Every Picture Tells A Story" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Ew I hate Rod Stewart. My mom loves him though. Maybe that's why I don't like him...I dont know. I'm going to see him in August though...We have like 8th row seats.

old Rod Stewart is good, be it his "Rod The Mod" days or his disco/new wave/pop days, but pretty much everything in the 90's and now have been bad, bottoming out with all the STANDARDS crap

Hey, I just saw him in concert tonight. One of the best shows I've been to(and I've been to ALOT of concerts). I'm not a huge fan but I knew every song he performed, even the standards, and he did 5 of those songs. It wasn't so bad. He did songs that totally slipped my mind, then I was like 'Oh yeah, forgot about that one'. I just wanted to see him at least once in my life. That's my thing now, to see people who I do like live although I'm not an extremely big fan. Go see them just to see them.

Would've liked to have heard People Get Ready though!!

actually, that is the reverse of what most people I know think about Rod Stewart. Both his "Rod the Mod" era fans and his 80's pop fans usually hate the 90's material
