Default Alex was funny but....

...did he act a little too arrogant for his own little good. Granted, he was funny. Michael J. Fox was one of my favorites. I liked his Alex Keaton, much like Marty McFly. Family Ties was a great show. BUT, wasn't there times where you would love to pop him because of him thinking that he knows everything. Here he was a teen with Nixon on his wall. LOL

We're talking Alex here, not Fox himself.

In the fifth season I got to where I could not stand Alex. I guess I did not like the way the show shifted its focus on Michael J. Fox and shoving Meredith Baxter Birney and Michael Gross to sidelines. Personally I love Steven and Elyse Keaton. They were one of the most realistic TV married couples. I ranked them up there with Rob and Laura.

Yeah, Alex was arrogant, but that is one of the many qualities he has that makes him so funny!

Alex is really arrogant and annoying at times, but I still love him. It's hard not to.

Alex was superior to all the other characters, though. The parents were hippies with radical feelings still left over from the 60's, the other kids were punks. Alex was always right, thus his arrogance is offset.

I cant belive you guys!

Alex was arrogant, but that was why he was good!!!

He had a self belief so strong that he made you belive him....

If we all were as confident and reassured as that, we could probably get farther in life.

Alex became too one dimensional and the episodes featuring him were repetious especially in seasons five and six. Season 7 brought the show back to its original formula.

Well, when you really think about it, how many tv characters would you like to actually hang out with?

Alex is too pompous and self-centered to be friends with, but makes for a great tv character.

Fraiser pretty much the same things, plus he's loud and neurotic.

Cliff Clavin cuz he'd drive you nuts.

The Friends cast cuz they're too hyper.

Kramer cuz he's too weird.

That's why we like to watch them, we laugh at their faults but would never want to experience them.
