Sorry about the OT, but I'm looking for someone who knows about or is a fan of Dead Kennedys.
My son bought a CD of theirs last night and I gotta have him take it back... it didn't have one of the advisory stickers on it, but one of the songs is titled "Too Drunk to F***"... so obviously my 14 year old isn't going to be owning this thing. Are all the Dead Kennedys albums this way? I mean, I don't mind an album has one or two sorta bad words... but this is ridiculous. Also, if all the DK is the way, is there another band that sounds similar to them that would be more appropriate for a 14 year old? Thanks Love, Wing<>< |

I used to be a DK fan. I bought an album when I was 15 that had the song Too Drunk to ... Some of their songs have bad language. Now that I'm older, I don't think I would let my kid listen to that music. I can't think of too many punk bands that don't use swear words, but the Ramones are a great punk band and they never swear in any of their songs. The Clash has a couple of bad words here or there, but they are tame compared to groups like the DK, and Black Flag. |

Thanks much.
You know, it's not like I would freak out if there was a swear word somewhere in one or two of the songs... In this case it's the whole subject of the song, plus the word actually being part of the chorus. I feel like I'm a pretty cool mom... I mean, I listen to a lot of the music and like it fine. He once left his Linkin Park CD in my car and I got to listening to it... then when he took it back I was like, "Where's Linkin Park?" I guess this is one of those times when I really gotta be the heavy mom, you know... Thanks again. Luckily (for me) he broke his skateboard deck in half last night trying to do a trick, so I think going to skate shop for a new deck will fit in nicely with my CD return request! ![]() Love, Wing<>< |

I would also suggest the Ramones. The Clash is ok too, but definitely the Ramones.
