Default Maybe Rich Cronin Will Listen to 50,000 Snail-Mails To Save GSN!

Hi Guys,

I share most people's views and outrage over the direction of this network. GSN needs to go back to the classic game shows that made them famous, or develop a mix of classic shows with intellectual programing that can bring families together. There is way too much reality-based programing on the network. But, even worse than that, there is no educational value or knowledge vested in any of the new shows. If I wanted to watch people run around and act like idiots I can watch vomit like Jerry Springer among other crap that has infected this once-great, now sorry network.

There are games that could be developed that teach memory skills, language skills, social skills, shopping skills, vocabulary skills, where the emphasis could bring families together. MR. CRONIN, IF I HAD CHILDREN, I WOULD NEVER ALLOW THEM TO WATCH THE CHEAP GAGS AND GIMMICKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REALITY TV PHILOSOPHY OF THIS NETWORK. Where are the classic shows that bring families together where you had to have some intellligence to play them? There is nothing to be gained from the selection of such trash like Dodgball, Fake-A-Date, and Vegas Weddings that holds any redeaming value for me or my familiy. I HATE REALITY TV WITH A PASSION!

What GSN has been reduced to are bargin basement shows that can be summed up in three works. CHEAP, BAD, PROGRAMS. In addition to that, the absurdity of reruning the same shows THAT BOMBED ON THEIR ORIGINAL NETWORKS WILL FORCE YOUR SO-CALLED " KIDDIE DEMOGRAPHIC TO TURN AWAY." These kids don't have the attention spans to watch reruns of the same crappy reality shows over and over and over again. There are hundreds to thousands of classic shows in the vaults. Why can't GSN give us two new Classic Shows (i.e The Joker's Wild, Tic-Tac Dough, Hot Potato) from their archivers? Even Lingo, the most successful original program that GSN has ever produced, has been rerun 50 times over. I don't know what GSN is waiting for? I can't understand why viewers can't get 2 Classic Shows from the vaults, 2 new shows that have some intellectual stimulation that teach some of the values that I talked about above, or even the remake of an original classic show. However, the reality based TV programs totally suck and are killing this network!

I believe that there is saftey in numbers. The more people that call, e-mail, or write to GSN stating why you don't like the format, and expressing your concerns that you are dissatisfied with the name change will get people to listen. Maybe Rich Cronin won't listen to 100 snail-mail letters, but maybe 50,000 will allow him to get the message. Maybe if 50,000 people say, that I am dropping the digital part of my cable service that carries GSN because I am so disgusted with the reality-programing on this network, he will get the message. I would go directly to Cronin, and even express my concerns to the new Vice President of Programing. The VP's name escapes me at the moment. If 50,000 letters come in expressing concerns about the negativity of this network, maybe some corrective action will be taken. I wouldn't be disrespectful just explian my displeasure over the following:

1.) Loss of Classic Gameshows.

2.) GSN's refusal to bring new classics out of the vault.

3.) GSN's refusal to develop any new thoughtful, intelligent games that can bring families together.

I would just say to everyone that you can contact at GSN, and especially in your snail-mail to Mr. Cronin , that if things do not change with regards to more classic shows and more thought provoking programing, you will no longer watch the channel. Here is Mr. Cronin's address at GSN: Our best chance is for our letters to be firm, but not hostile, typed or word processed and directly to the point(s) that we want to address. Something has to be done!

Mr. Rich Cronin

I don't like the way the new GSN start showing reality shows and all that stuff. The only show I like on the new GSN is "Match Game", still my favorite. I missed the good old shows from game shows past.

I have to laugh at how pathetic some of the programming is. I mean, basically, GSN is getting all the bombed programs that NBC threw away. Boy, that spells success!

Angry The problem

The problem with GSN is that they don't give a @#!! what viewers think or want to watch. I really believe that somebody is skewing the numbers to prove that their new direction is a success and was worth the $$$ in research & development. This is a very bad time for GSN, afterall isn't MG airing but once a day? For me, GSN is going the way of N@N, TVL and TNN. Thank goodness for the TV shows on DVD, but that doesn't help with game shows.

I was thinking that perhaps we should taget a key sponsor of GSN and write to them why we no longer watch the network and how they're wasting their ad bucks.

Yeah. But it's summer. A lot of them are outside, or hanging with friends, or on vacation. They're not sitting in front of the tube watching lame reruns of Dog Eat Dog.

Let me say that this so-called "ungame" reality stuff being on GSN since 6/14/04 is a lame attempt to attract young viewers. If GSN's the network for "GAMES", why in the heck are they airing something that is not "GAME" like Star Search, Vegas Weddings Unveiled, and Spy TV?

My sentiments exactly. I haven't watched GSN (or N@N or TNN) for over a year now because they suck so bad. I don't even see how this network attracts sponsors, let alone viewers.
Do people really watch this crap that GSN airs??
I for one am sick and tired of loosing every #$&^ network that comes along and shows programs I like. I keep wearing out vcrs because as soon as a network launches I tape anything I like because I know it won't be long before it is replaced with garbage.

The new GSN is as worse as some of the GSN originals. Nick GAS and G4TV channel On the other hand were better. Unless things change, Good-bye GSN!

Default "Match Game" 1990 Revisited

For a fix, the new GSN has brought back the 1990-91 revival of "Match Game" with Ross Shafer as the host. I've seen it but it wasn't that bad as the original was.
