"Unconventional Family" is a new gay-oriented sitcom that tries to break all gay stereotypes. The series takes place in Boston, Mass. and conters on the newly-wedded couple of James and Derek Rice-Makita (Henry Rollins and Dan Cortese), a gay couple who live in a nice apartment with their 13-year old daughter Morgan (Kay Panabaker). Their best friends are the straight Courtney Powers (Joey Lauren Adams) who lives next door and her roommate and on-again, off-again love interest Cooper Russell (Joey Slotnick). Together, these friends will live their unconventional lives as they deal with neighbors, relatives, jobs and every other regular daily activity. James is the owner and head bartender of the hip bar (not gay bar, just bar) "Frosty's", which Derek, Courtney and Cooper work at every now and then and Derek is a sports announcer, as is Cooper. Courtney is an aspiring actress who's day job is as a waitress at "Cafe Emilio". Morgan attends David Angell Middle School and is in the 8th grade. "Unconventional Family" is a conventionally conventional look at the life of a gay couple, their daughter and their friends in Boston, Mass.
