Neither do I, my mom isnt. She lets me come on here, she just thinks im on it too much.

Ditto, my parents don't allow me in chatrooms, but they don't care if I go on message boards as long as I'm careful.

It's not nice to call his mother paranoid. There are so many internet horror stories out there, and a parent can never be too careful. Don't forget that he's only 12. She's doing what she thinks is best for her son, and I respect her decision.

As for having a policeman talk to her son, there's nothing wrong with that. It's probably a small town where everybody knows everybody. So if she has Sheriff Taylor talk to her pre-teen about the dangers of the internet, kudos to her. Good parents are protective. She loves her boy.

As I said recently, Chit Chat can be a hostile environment at times. There is a lot of swearing, fighting, gangups, R-rated jokes and pictures.

It would be a cold day in hell when I would allow my 12 year old child to come to this part of Sitcoms Online.

Any parents feel like weighing in on this?

Anyway, I did a poll here and the majority of the people that post at Chit Chat are teenagers, so maybe thats why its hostile at times.

if i had kids i would let them come here. sheltered kids annoy me.

he can just read some horror stories on snopes.com and learn his lesson. i've been on this board since i was 11.

I completely agree. My parents tell me frequently about all the crazy weirdos on the internet(they know I visit some messageboards, but nothing specific).
