Default It is ODD for a 40 year person to have a bounced Check?

I think it's odd because you are always supposed to keep track of what you are spending and know what checks you mailed out. There is no excuse for adult at the age of 40 who can't keep track of what they have in their checking account. My mom told me this 40 something year old man had a bounced check. I didn;t think that was possible. Anyone else Agree?

President Bush can have a bounced check as far as I'm concerned. I mean really, anyone can make a mistake on managing their checkbook. Granted, it's not that hard, but still. You can make a mistake on anything.

Not odd at all. It's a little thing called "awareness." Not all older people possess this trait. I've seen a few bounced checks at the videostore I worked at by older people.

I guess maybe because i never had one. I just never thought someone as old as 40 could make that kind of mistake

Waiting until you start paying bills and you have things automatically taken out of your account and people keep calling you bugging you for money when you can't pay pay them. It's very hard

I have that now and do a good job of preventing bounce checks. A lot of people don't know how to keep track of their account everytime they make a purchase.

Which is exactly why a 40 year old, or anyone for that matter, could have a check bounce.

I thought by time someone is 40, they have already made that type of mistake in the past and know how to prevent bounce checks.

I work in the hotel business and no where else do you see more bounched cheques than here, which is specifically the reason we don't accept them anymore. You don't know the whole financial history of a person just by looking at them or seeing their information that they fill out on the registration card. You can look like Bill Gates, but it doesn't mean you're a multi-millionaire.

I have never bounced a check. I keep very good bookkeeping records. It isn't hard. I think a lot of people bounce checks and are aware of it! But the penalties are not worth it! I would not like to be paid by a bounced check and nobody else would I'm sure. HOW RUDE!

Some people never learn from their mistakes. I agree that by the time someone reaches their 40's they should have it together but if you lose your job, become ill or whatever and can't work and the bills pile up it's very easy to bounce checks. Also many people (My sister did this alot) will write a check and send it out a few days before they deposit money into their account hoping that the bill collector won't cash the check right away.

Yep. I agree. My sis was terrible with money, had about 10 credit cards all maxed out and bounced checks all the time. I'm glad I don't take after her. I have only one credit card and so far have never bounced a check.
