Red face Theatrical Film Version Of Green Acres

In 1997, I had heard that they were going to make a theatrical film version of Green Acres, where Bette Midler was going to play Lisa Douglas.

BETTE MIDLER AS LISA DOUGLAS!! Come on now! Bette Midler does not have the style, class, and glamour to play Lisa Douglas. As a matter of fact, Eva Gabor is probably turning in her grave. Lisa Douglas was a glamorous, European-born socialte. Ivana Trump would have been a better choice to play Lisa.

Unfortunately, it never got off of the ground.

I've got it! Why not get Zsa Zsa Gabor to play Lisa Douglass? She has recovered from her coma, hasn't she?

eh, I think you would need somone younger. I would think that the movie would be set when the characters were younger, like their ages during the actual show, not the ages of them today. However, I could be wrong

It certainly would be nice for them to do another reunion movie of Green Acres, but not with terrible writers who did the 1990 reunion. If we could get a quality reunion show, then it would be worthwhile. I am not sure who all is still alive, but I do know that quite a bit of the cast has passed on. Eddie Albert is still alive. Do you think that it would be better to have Eddie Albert portray a widower or for Zsa Zsa Gabor to take on her late sister's part?

Gosh at this late date. Who is left? Eb? I can't think of who is alive other than Eddie and Tom. And what would the plot entail? Eddie's son Edward could come and maybe have a second generation play the parts. Gosh It could be awful.

who was Darlene Wheeler?

And, I'm not surprised that Pat Butram (Mr. Haney) and the guy that played Mr. Kimbell aren't around anymore. It's been many years, but as I recall, in that HORRIBLE reunion movie; they both looked like they were in their 80s.

From what I last heard, Zsa Zsa is still in that Motion Picture Country Home in Woodland Hills, California. She was only in the hospital for 2 months after she was in that terrible car accident, but then she was transferred to the Motion Picture Country Home. Unfortunately, Zsa Zsa will never appear on television again.

Secondly, Darlene Wheeler was Eb's girlfriend during the last season of Green Acres (1970-71). Remember that one episode where they were supposed to get married in a department store window.

If they ever did another Green Acres reunion movie, Oliver Douglas would have been a widower. No one can ever replace Eva Gabor as Lisa Douglas.

I don't think they could EVER make another reunion movie. Not when half of the cast is...how do I put it nicely? Passed away? It wouldn't be the same without Eva Gabor, Pat Buttram, Alvy Moore, or any of the other deceased cast members. To me, those guys were the only actors ever that could portray their characters perfectly.
