That made me want to watch that movie again and I did. Great movie. They really need to remake it. I thought they would being that they did the stage version. Maybe they will....

I thought 'Wind Beneath My Wings' would've been higher in the list- still though, Bette's got two great songs in the list.

The songs I like in the list are:
1.All That Jazz
2.Footloose
3.The Rose
4.Ding-dong the witch is dead
5.Arthur's Theme
6.9 to 5
7.Shall We Dance (my fave song from The King and I is 'Getting to Know You')
8.Fame
9.Wind Beneath My Wings
10.Make 'em Laugh
11.Don't Rain on My Parade
12.Luck be a Lady
13.I got Rhythm
14.Aquarius
15.Born to be Wild
16.Cabaret
17.People
18.When you wish upon a star
19.Mrs Robinson
20.Singin' in the Rain (fave song from this is actually 'Good Morning'- never gets enough recognition!)
21.Over the Rainbow

21 out of 100 ain't bad! I totally agree with Over the Rainbow getting the top spot- I doubt there's anyone that isn't remotely touched by this song!

I know I'm likely to incur the contempt of the masses (or at least of several) by admitting this, but I've never liked that song. I have no explanation. I just don't like it. If I hear it, I have to turn it off or tune it out. I'm a freak.

As for the rest of the 100, there aren't many I'd have left off the list, but watching the countdown was a bit frustrating. The clips were short and the transitions often jarring. I know they had to go in numerical order, but listening to Days of Wine and Roses sandwiched between Fight the Power and the theme from Shaft made my head hurt.

My only other complaint is that it made me want to watch musicals, which I've now been doing all day. Still, there are worse ways to spend a day. I just wish I could stop humming.

That song should be in the top ten if not number 1. Great song!

I just dont get how Lose Yourself made the list. There are so many other songs that could have made the list but it had to be that one.

I'm disappointed. They completely overlooked the theme from "Smokey and the Bandit"! It should have at least made the top 5!

Maybe they should have called it the Top 100 music moments in movies, something other than the top 100 songs. A whole bunch of those songs weren't even done for the movie, they were just songs that were used. Those West Side Story songs were performed on Broadway before the movie, songs like Ain't Too Proud To Beg and Wind Beneath My Wings were around long before those movies included the songs, and any movie song list that doesn't have anything from Purple Rain...well, that's just wrong!

I totally agree with #1 and I agree Wind Beneath My Wings should have been alot higher up than it was.

My favorite movie song wasn't on there (The Neverending Story theme) but I knew that wouldn't be on there LOL

I read it in yesterday's paper this morning that "Over the Rainbow" was #1 and it became the all-time favorite song from the movie. This song was remade by so many artists. I like the doo-wop version of "Over the Rainbow" by the Dimensions. I don't have the 45 of that except this picture I saw on Ebay.

The Time Warp wasn't on the list either! If you have 'Aquarius' on the list you've gotta have The Time Warp!

It's hard to find good musicals- but I really love watching them when I do find them! I'm not a big fan of the Fred Astaire sort of musical- I like the more modern sort- and occasionally find older musicals I enjoy.

I also like the more recent ones -- I'm a huge Sondheim fan, and Lloyd Webber has had his brilliant moments -- but most musicals from the last few decades have not been adapted to film (Evita and Chicago being the notable exceptions), so my LD/DVD collection includes a lot of stage performances that have been filmed for TV. I sometimes like watching the old MGM musicals (Astaire/Rogers, Garland/Rooney, etc.), but I prefer the adaptations of Rodgers & Hammerstein or Lerner & Loewe musicals: South Pacific, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, The King and I, Carousel, etc. The film adaptation of Camelot will always head my mental list entitled "When Bad Movies Happen to Great Actors...", but it's still a great score.

I was hoping that the huge commercial and critical success of Chicago would jumpstart another musical age in filmdom, but that hasn't happened. I blame Down With Love (not a true musical despite the duet, but still a throwback to that era). What the heck were they thinking?

All the good ones were WAY too low on the list. "Lose Yourself" beating "All That Jazz"? No way. There is just NO WAY.

The only ones that were as high as they should have been were "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Cabaret". Infact, the "Diamonds" part was the only part I saw of the show. I was at a friends house and her parents were watching it. I heard Nicole Kidman singing, so I RUSHED out into the other room to watch it.
