In the beginning they are supposed to come off as thuggish......which....correct if I am wrong, might be someone who would sneak into a window.

W.J Griffin was saying that if a Teacher in the 70's had called the police on his students, he would have gotten knife the next day. He didn't mean the Teacher would have had a knife
