Post Reunion DYNs (SPOILERS)

Did you notice?:

The man in the photo of Tootie's daughter and husband looked nothing like Todd Hollowell, who played Jeff in the series. Also, he looked much too old to be Jeff, especially when you consider that the photo was taken quite a few years earlier when the daughter was a toddler. Probably an "inside" photo - maybe one of Kim Fields' father?

Edna still goes by the last name (Garrett) of her first husband, whom she divorced, rather than Gaines, the name of the second husband who left her a widow.

Tootie mentioned that "Sue Ann was on the track team" when Blair was having trouble running as the girls were leaving the hotel to go to Eastland.

Blair wondered, "I wonder if we'll run into Mr. Parker", even though he was not the headmaster who quit Eastland after Blair bought the school in the last episode. Maybe he came back?

Blair mentioned that she sold the school.

Jo's husband Rick is now played by an actor who is clearly Canadian -- listen to how he says "Sorry".

Eastland is still co-ed, as it became in the final episode of the series.

The photo of the new Eastland cafeteria (as pictured on the "Redevelopment" poster outside the old cafeteria) doesn't look like it would at all fit in with the rest of the schools' architecture.

We got to see the "fourth wall" of the old Eastland cafeteria, where the cameras were positioned on the old series. It has more tables, and stained-glass windows.

The policeman who said he was a desk sergeant when the girls were arrested for stealing the van/underage drinking mentioned that it happened in 1982. This incident originally happened in Jo's first episode, which was 1980.

Jo is on the police force, in an obvious tribute to Nancy McKeon's role on "The Division". In the original series, Jo wanted to become a teacher.

Blair mentioned that the hotel's handyman, George, went off to L.A. to become an actor. She's referring to George Burnett, the handyman played in season 7 by George Clooney.

Mindy Cohn, Kim Fields, and Lisa Whelchel were billed alphabetically at the top of the credits, and Charlotte Rae was billed at the end. This is unlike the series, where Charlotte had top billing, followed by Lisa, Kim, Mindy, and Nancy McKeon.

Did you notice when Rick told the girls about Jo, he said she was with her DIVISION, and Nat said she hasn't seen her in a LIFETIME. Do you get it?

Yes, I caught alot of those.

I enjoyed how they made Jo out to be a cop and that she was gone with her division. Not to mention Natalie hadn't seen her in a lifetime (It symboled, to me, how they respect each other as friend and their own individual careers.)

I also enjoyed seeing the "fourth wall" and that there was indeed more eating area in the cafeteria than the showed during the series!

I also liked the mention of George, good to see he wasn't forgotten!

Blair also reffered to Geri, which was cool.

I also caught the reference to the year '82. That bugged me so much, because any true FOL fan knows that it occured during Jo's first season there...

Funny stuff!

Also, In Dream Marriage Cliff proposed and Blair said I always wanted to marry a man who wouldnt make me change my monogram. And in the movie Natlie introduces Blair to Robert as Blair Warner Warner and Robert said Saves on Monograms.

One of the questions the director asked me while they were doing research was what was the day of the week and time that FOL aired in the heyday of the show (1980-1984). I noticed in the movie they said Wednesday which would have been correct if they were talking about an episode from 1982. I don't know where they got 1982 for the van/underage drinking incident from, I'm sure it would have been listed as 1980 on any episode guide.

I didn't see the reunion because I had to work but it's cool that there were so many clever references. There is one thing though:

Were there any Andy or Beverly Ann references? If George is mentioned you would think Andy and Beverly Ann would get their due as well. (I didn't really like Beverly Ann all that much but you can't have watched the show without remembering the last couple of years as well.)

Either way it's great that Nancy's absence was handled well.

It sounds like they did a whole lot better with the continuity of FoL then let's say any of the Brady Bunch reunions. (Every reunion screwed up the entire continuity of the show.) The same thing happened The tv Odd Couple, After M*A*S*H* and Simon and Simon just to name a few that were mere charactures of their former tv selves. (Only the Bob Newhart show pulled a reunion off dead on to a T.)

i also thought that it was funny that in the reunion episode mrs. g's son says to blair "yellow isn't your color". (She's in a yellow raincoat). In one of the original episodes where blair falls for a stuck-up guy that leaves her at the country club for another girl the guy tells her that yellow doesn't look good on her, blue looks better.

A couple of things...

Mrs. Garrett's "Peace on earth" line I suspect was added to the script after the Sept. 11 tragedy.

When the girls were driving in the limo, wasn't it Natalie who said the line "He's a snake" or something to that effect? Perhaps an inside reference to her old boyfriend Snake?

I caught that. I started busting out laughing. I'm watching the movie for the 3rd time right now.

Something else I haven't seen anybody else pick up on. Blair became a lawyer. She mentions to Tad, "That's why you married your lawyer" Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

You guyz picked up on so much,,,,alot of the references went over my head because my boyfriend was talking so much during the movie...I also had to explain alot of the inside jokes to hime since he never watched the original series,,,quite shocking I know!!

I will forgive the year thing,,I am happy that they at least mentioned the girls' arrest...I will see if I can catch all of the other references tonight when I rewatch the tape

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?

Jo: Beats me, Tootie.
