Those episodes really helped me
...when I was a kid. I started watching them from the very beginning in 1957 when I was 13.
I always learned a 'lesson' or two from watching them. It was like Ward was also lecturing me personally at the end of the show,you know?
It's funny,but I know it kept me from making a lot of mistakes as I grew up.
I refrained from getting into trouble just from watching them. I was lucky though,I had a policman for an uncle,and he and my father made sure I walked that 'fine line'.
There was always a lesson to be learned after every show,and it always had a 'happy ending' somehow.

I even think the re-runs are helping our new generation too.

Has any of those eppies kept any of you from getting into trouble?
...Just curious.

Wow, That must have been pretty cool to watch LITB in it's original run. It had been off the air 20 years before I started watching it.

Not only LITB Mijada,but many tv shows from the middle '40 on.
After all I am 61 now,and I got to see a lot of television shows right from the beginning. (Smile)
Many they don't even show anymore.

I have to wonder just where television is headed in the future.
You'll see a lot of new technology well after I'm gone.

Thanks for sharing this with us. As you have noted there is a lot of good in LITB. One aspect of note for me is the respect for one another within the family unit, particularly between child and parent. That is so missing today with so much of the child-rearing being done on TV which has really become so morally corrupt in general and with MTV in particular.

I think I have sub-conciously used Ward Cleaver and the show in general as a basis as how to raise and govern my family. Though there are many faults I have personally, all has worked out well for the most part so long as we make sufficient time for one another and have good two-way communication with respect and love showing the other how important they are to us.

I fully agree with you WardOleMan. I guess I also raised my own children by using Ward's rearing techniques from the show.

You're so right! Today's MTV and others like it are a far cry from what we grew up on.
I fear for the future some time my friend.
And it's also tough being a kid today ...IMO
