He said the boy was taken to the staff room of the school in Fukuoka City, southern Japan, after being caught asleep during a lesson. The 40-year-old male teacher handed the boy a box-cutter and paper and told him to write an apology in blood.

The teacher left the student, who then cut his finger and began to write an apology using his own blood.

This is sickening forcing a student to intentionally cut himself and write in blood and can anybody explain to me what dozing means?

Dozing means to be asleep.

That is pretty weird what the teacher told him to do. Maybe he didn't think the kid would go through with it. Then again, those Japanese schools are pretty strict, but that is going a wee bit too far.

Dozing is another word for sleeping, something that is obviously frowned upon in Japan. It looks as though the teacher will not not be fired, since it wasnt in the story. School sounds crazy in Japan.
