Hi Guys,
I am a dog lover. But I am sure that all of us at some point in time have had an experience with a certain breed of dog or stereotypes or prejudices about a certain breed of dog where you think that it is automatically mean just by looking at it. Many people today talk about the bad reputation of Pit Bull Terriors, but for me, the dog that I fear the most is the Doberman Pincher. Years ago, I saw a movie that had mean Dobermans in it. ("The Boys From Brazil) and I have been terrified of that breed ever since. I don't know if it's the terribly graphic images in that movie that feared me more, or just from what I have read that so many people have Dobermans for protection. But the apperence of the Doberman itself is just like the dog is saying...."Don't f**k with me." Maybe it's the Black and tan markings on the dog and the fact that the teeth are more pronounced because it is a prodominately black colored dog. But the image when I see a Doberman is me paralized with fear. I just shake with horror. When I was a kid, I went on a bike trip with my dad, and there were like 6 of them UNLEASHED on a hill and the owner was out playing with them. I tried to scream and nothing came out and just started crying and shaking and told my Dad that I just wanted to go home, which we did. The dogs didn't do anything. My dad said that one came over to him and wanted to play, but I was too shaken up to remember that. I remember that we had a house two streets over that had a Doberman that was afraid of people. She was a very nice dog (by witness accounts) and would bark when someone came to the door, and then would cry and run and hide under a table or bed! (Maybe she didn't know she was a Doberman!) LOL!) But the thing is you just don't know if they are nice dogs or if they are just looking to leap up at you and take a bite out of you at the right moment. You know, the Pit Bull gets a bad rap. But for me, I would always be more frightened of a Doberman than a Pit Bull. (Dobermans are larger) I hope I didn't offend any Doberman owners on the board. If so, I am sure that many Dobermans are very nice dogs, but IMHO, if you see a bad one, stay far away! Jack |

Just about every breed, with the exception of Chihuahuas and poodles.

Pit Bulls, Rot wilers, Dobermans.
Those are dogs that everyone should be afraid of. They should all be declared wild animals. |

I don't think there are any bad dog breeds, just bad dog owners. They don't want to take the time and money to properly train and care for the dog, or worse, they mistreat it.

I find myself to be more weary of rotweilers and pit bulls. But you should never trust a dog the first time you come across it- even a golden retriever.
