Cool How many of you watched Cheers in its original run?

Just wondering how many people there are here that watched Cheers in its original run or grew up watching it when it was still on.

I know I sure did - I remember the Kirstie Alley years really well. My parents were both Cheers fans, so I would often sit down to watch Cheers with them, and I got hooked on to it. I always liked Carla and Rebecca the best. I was almost 8 when Cheers ended for good.

I started watching it from the beginning. I remember I didn't like the show at first.

I was 1 when the show began & 10 when it ended. My mom likes the show (her fave is Cliff) & my sister & brother-in-law don't watch TV. My niece is almost 4 & watches cartoons. (PBS & Disney Channel ones, not the ones on Nickelodeon) My faves are Sammy, Diane & Carla.

I watched it in its original run, and I liked it.

It was the first time I thought a sitcom was winking at me.
I got the jokes.

I watched some of the Rebecca years in the original run. I wasn't born when Cheers started.

aw I did. Well, part of it, at least. I was born in '85, and my earliest memories are of watching Cheers. My sister, who is 13 years older than me, and had a large hand in raising me, was obsessed with cheers, and loved lilith.
She used to put my little three-year-old hair in a bun.
She even had the music score to the Cheers Theme song, so that was the third song I learned to play on the piano, after "chopsticks" and "mary had a little lamb"
my piano teacher was pretty damn impressed.

is it any wonder that i am the way i am?

I just saw your profile- I'm only a couple of months older than you (1985er here too). My parents would tape Cheers all the time...I KNOW I have a tape here somewhere...I'm just not sure where it's at...that had like two or so episodes of Cheers as they originally aired 10+ years ago.

I remember when all 3 of Kirstie Alley's "Look Who's Talking" movies came out - I went to see the 1st and 2nd movies when they were in theatres and I remembered her as Rebecca on Cheers.

I remember my mom taking me to see "Three Men and a Baby" when I was 7. I'm a 1980 baby. lol I thought that Ted Danson was cute back then...Steve Guttenburg, too...Whoo!

I went and saw "Three Men and a Little Lady" with my friend! - I love the original one the best! I used to think that Nancy Travis, who played Sylvia, really was british..hahaha! But then I saw the movie "So I Married An Axe Murderer!" LOL

Oh and I saw Rebecca's EVAN DRAKE twice in person! One, accidently cause I was walking up a mountain with my dad and he was coming down with his dog and said HELLO -I was 12 or 13 at the time. The second time I saw Tom Skerrit was in 1997 when I was an extra in the movie "Contact." I had to stand there and watch Jodie Foster and Tom Skerrit get in and out of a helicoptor and then I had to watch them pretend like they were on the news. Hahaha!!! - Robert Zemekis waved to me, you all!

I LOVE that movie with Mike Myers and Nancy Travis, by the way. And your avatar too! I thought Travis was British...why does her American accent sound so fake?

Thanks about my avatar. Diane was puckering up to Sam for too long!

I watched it when it was originally on. I watched once in a while when Shelley Long was on it and I watched it every week after Kirstie Alley joined the cast.
