I just watched this movie the other night.
It's a low budget film , none the less it does it's job of being a good Horror film. It setting is really creepy. I understood most of it except maybe the last 45 minutes. SPOILERS IF YOU DO WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE DON"T CONTINUE READING I never understood who the killer was and why? Can anyone explain? Karen Alice's sister was killed. Alice was blamed. They questioned Alice. Alice's aunt got stabbed, she said it was Alice. Alice got put in a mental hospital. Why she was there more killings kept happening. It turns out to be some old lady. Why did she do it? At the very end Alice is walking out of the church ,she holds a knife out of her bag. Is that old lady the killer? Is Alice the killer? Is Karen not really dead and came back as the killer? I just got so lost at the end. Also it has a really creepy man as the landlord who is morbidly obese. He loves cats. Also he likes Alice. This is a disturbing movie in a alot of ways. Also after Karen dies the parents do not seem to upset. A low budget horror film classic. Just remember to those thinking of viewing it is scary. |

Movies like that scare me 75 times more than things like The Exorcist do. I don't think I'll be seeing it.
But it does sound interesting, to say the least. |

Alice, Sweet Alice is a very atmospheric film and one that I like a lot. The scene where we see the picture of Karen (after she's been killed) still sends a chill through me, and always has. What a horrible way to die.
The killer is Father Tom's housekeeper, Mrs. Tredoni. If you'll look back through certain parts of the movie, she came off as quite jealous of anyone who took his time, thus keeping him away from her. He spent a lot of time with Karen and her family and she didn't like that... at all. Remember when Karen and Alice's mother came for a visit because she needed advice? Mrs. Tredoni was polite but it was obvious that she didn't like her being at the house. Just as she's (Mrs. Tredoni) placing Karen into the bench, she yanks the necklace from Karen's neck - it was a gift from Father Tom. Another reason to get rid of her. I'm not sure why Annie (the girls' aunt) would be a target, though. Maybe because she made a lot of noise, bringing attention to the killer. And, we can't forget that even Father Tom himself is murdered. He wouldn't return her affections, never saw her the way she felt she deserved. She took care of him and loved him.. maybe she also felt that, by killing him, she was proving her love somehow. He'd be that much closer to God. It's easy to believe that Alice would be the true killer: She, too, had a jealous streak and had no problem showing it. She hated Karen and couldn't understand why her mother and father gave her more attention. Watching her cold and indifferent reaction at the church once we learn that Karen has been killed is unforgettable. She even has Karen's veil. As for the very end - when we see Alice with the brown bag and the knife - her expression says so much, yet leaves everything up in the air at the same time. I think she might've been responsible for at least one of the murders, though it's possible that she was only planning on killing Father Tom and the housekeeper just beat her to it. It's been a little while since I watched the movie so I'm just going on memory, but I hope this at least cleared up some of the confusion for you. |

Thanks little insomniac
It helped alot. So Karen was dead and stayed dead. The house keeper was the killer. I still wonder why Mr. Alphonso was killed? Also why Alice was holding a knife at the end?Did Alice kill anybody? |

There's a scene I touched upon but never went into detail with, one that's very important if you're to figure out who the killer is: the conversation between Alice and Karen's mother with Mrs. Tredoni. She says her daughter was taken from her on the day of her first communion. It was the day she realized St. Michael wanted her to take care of Father Tom - not Alice and Karen's mother. It was her job, nobody else's. So there's her motive.. get rid of the sinners in the name of God. She must've felt she was doing good, not evil. Still, there's that jealousy issue. At the very end when Mrs. Tredoni's pushing her way to the front of the line for communion, all she wants is for Father Tom to pay attention to her. Even then, he's distracted. I don't think that Alice could've committed any of the murders, no matter how hateful and full of rage she was. She hated Karen and obviously got off on tormenting her, not to mention the landlord. She resented the fact that her parents wanted her back at school and that Annie was going to stick around. And even when she learned that her sister was dead, all she could think about was herself. I don't care how upset you are, I don't care that she's dead - pay attention to me already!! The bag, I think, belonged to Mrs. Tredoni. Or so I thought.. she obviously had it with her when she went up to the front of the church and had it when she killed Father Tom. So, maybe Alice brought along her own bag and knife? |
