Default Does anyone know if CBS ever aired the episode that dealt with Wife-Swapping?

I'm asking because i read in a 1975 TV Guide article that CBS quickly pulled that episode scheduled to air on Jan 13, 1975 and subsituted with a rerun. So was This episode only shown in syndication? I watched this episode last week and enjoyed it. The husband of the other couple wanted Maude but the wife had second thoughts about Walter-LOL

Wow, so CBS actually held that episode back until the following season.

I don't know, maybe the script was held back, but the episode has a production number of 513. It was a fifth season episode and aired with all the other fifth season episodes.

Oh I thought it was a season 3 episode since it was supposed to air in Jan of 1975. Maybe I have that episode mixed up with another one.

I guess we now know the answer to this question, thanks to the DVD set! Who would have ever guessed there were two episodes shot for the same script, and in two separate seasons?

Uhmmm. . . Well, what happened in the episode? Did they hook up? If not, why not specifically?
Did Maude and Walter know that these people were there to swing or not?

The unaired episode isn't too entirely different from what did eventually air, if I remember correctly. When I get to season five, I'll be sure to post what some of the differences are. In the original/ unaired version, Maude is "turned on" (Walter's words) and flattered at the attention, so maybe this is what caused them to pull it from the schedule.

The Season 5 version is superior and funnier than the unaired Season 3 episode. The only things that worked better in the first version were Maude's hysterical reaction to Channing (the husband of the swinging couple) chatting up Carol; and Walter has a line about "calling the Vice Squad" in the original that was changed to "making a citizen's arrest" but I didn't find the latter as funny.

It's been awhile since I've seen the season 5 version, but I did watch the unaired version on Saturday and literally guffawed at Maude's reaction to Channing talking to Carol. Hilarious!

. . . . .and still despite the above responses. . .the question remains. . . did Maude and Walter hook up with the swinging couple? (Talk about beating around the bush!)

Almost. Right when they were about to hook up, the other couple caught sight of Maude and Walter's hideous navy-blue and chartreuse bedroom and bolted for the door.

Just kidding. Maude and Walter turn down the other couple, who get insulted and storm out.

Relax, Senor Yong. . .this was television in the 70's. The most they would have done was implied that they hooked up with the other couple. They would have never, ever showed it in any way, shape or form.
