Default Sick for no apparent and/or logical reason

I can't believe this. I'm not even home for a week, and I'm already sick.

Yesterday morning I got sick in my mom's car. I continued to feel very nauseous for the remainder of the morning. Then in the afternoon, I went to Friendly's and ate a good lunch. I felt fine. Then when I was babysitting last night, the nauseousness returned. It comes and goes.

So here I sit this morning feeling like death. I just want to die. I don't even know what's wrong with me! If I had a flu, all the food I had yesterday, I would have thrown up. I'm obviously not pregnant; that's impossible. I don't know if it's withdrawl, because for the past week I have felt absolutely fine. WHY am I sick?

I have a feeling it's because of all the medications I'm on.. I hope to God it is, because if not, I don't know what's wrong with me. Maybe they're not combining good or something. Prozac, Trazodone, Lithium, Seroquel, and Strattera... Plus, I haven't taken Seroquel in 3 days. You're not supposed to come off it suddenly.

I just felt like sharing. I feel like absolute hell. It's going to be a long summer.

Why not call the doctor and ask if nausea is a side effect of the meds you are on. You shouldn't have to go around feeling this way. Medication is supposed to make you feel better, not worse.

What's with taking all the drugs?

If I had to guess, I would say those are side effects, but you should still check with your doctor.

Insomnia, Bi-polar Disorder, underlying clinical depression, severe Social-Anxiety Disorder, and suspected Attention Deficit Disorder.

Okay, so I'm a bit crazy

But anyway, I'm having my mother ask the pharmacist today about the Seroquel, because I think that's it.

I still feel like I'm gonna blow chunks

If you're not supposed to stop it suddenly, I bet that's it.

I know you're not supposed to stop Paxil suddenly, and once when I ran out of refills, I was off of it for 2 days and I was so dizzy I couldn't stand up.

Yeah, when I was on a different medication before I had prozac, I just got really pissed one day because it felt like nothing was working...so I didn't take it for a couple of days and I felt shaky and dizzy for a day after that until I took it again...

I'm sorry, Karly. I'm on a lot of medications, as well and I don't know if they contribute to making me feel badly, or what. The problem is, I need them, I couldn't just not take any meds. I hope you feel better.

I was on Seroquel a few years ago for no reason, isn't that medicine like for Bi-polar, Schitzohphrenia, and stuff? Not for OCD. I was on like 50 medications for stuff I didn't have and it really messed me up. Most of the medications I took I still don't understand what they were for. I came off Seroquel suddenly, and never took it again. I didn't get sick, but you're not me and people can react in different ways. So I don't know. I hope you feel better, though!

I feel better now- I took the Seroquel. My stomach is more... stable. My mom asked the pharmacist about it, and he said that wasn't a side effect, but I'm extremely med-sensitive, so you never know with me.

Now I feel like crap mentally. Ugh, God it never ends.

Yep. I told someone I was on it and they thought I flew over the cuckoo's nest. I had to explain it was for Bi-polar.

And thanks for everything, guys. You're like my best friends. Lucky you

Whatever if is making you ill, I hope it goes away soon! It may just be a virus that will pass. If it doesn't pass, perhaps it is the meds. I hope your doctor can help.

Okay, now I'm thinking it probably is the meds. I didn't notice that you said you stopped Seroquel abruptly. Also, I kind of have a feeling you are on too many medications...

Is it really good to be on Prozac with Lithium? I'm pretty much clueless, so feel free to tell me how wrong I am... but I didn't think it was okay to take antidepressants for bipolar because it could trigger mania. I thought lithium was for the depression and mania...

And I just looked up Desyrel in my PDR book, and it says it's for depression. It's kind of an old book, so maybe it now has other uses... if you're taking that for depression, isn't that too many drugs for one condition?

http://www.seroquel.com/ says seroquel for short term acute manic episodes. How long were you suppose to be on it?

This is all my opinion, but I think you're taking one or two drugs too many for the depression and one too many for the mania. Have you ever tried JUST lithium for the bipolar? I know that alone doesn't work for everybody. But if it was me, I would try the lithium by itself OR if that didn't help, another drug instead of the lithium, before I'd take lithium with a bunch of other things. Of course, if ALL those drugs are working, that's great. But they may just be what is making you sick, and that's no good. Or maybe it's just stopping the Seroquel that caused it. Definitely talk to your doctor though. Good luck with this. I hope it gets better.

And sorry for going on and on and on.

Exclamation Make an appointment

You should never ever abruptly quit taking certain medications, especially ones that you're taking for psychological reasons. I know that a person can have a deadly seizure when quitting Paxil suddenly.

I'm sorry you're on so many medications. You poor baby, really. I'm assuming that you're seeing someone in a counseling capacity, and I hope this doctor isn't med happy. Also make sure that your primary care physician, and any other doctors whose care you're under know what the other one is doing.

My hairdresser is on a lot of medications, and in addition to seeing a psychiatrist, she also sees a psychopharmacologist, which is a psychiatrist who specializes in striking the right balance for a patient's 'med cocktail', so to speak.

Karly, please don't take any chances. Make an appointment with your doctor asap.

Hmmm... okay. The Prozac is for the underlying depression that I strangely have, even when I am having a manic episode. The Desyrel, although an anti-depressent, is used for my insomnia, because it knocks me on my ass... to be quite blunt . I tried the Lithium alone, but for some reason, when mixed with the Prozac, has more of a positive effect on me. The Lithium and Seroquel are for the manic stages of my Bi-polar, and the Prozac brings me out of the depressing stages, along with taking care of the underlying depression that's always there, like I said before.

I was fine with all of these medications before stopping the Seroquel. I started taking it again tonight and I feel fine.
