Default Did the kids even like the Ropers?

I have been wondering this for a few days. I just got the season two dvds and I always thought that Jack, Chrissy, and Janet really liked the Ropers, but in the episode "Three's Christmas" the only one that sounds happy about being invited to the Ropers for a Christmas party is Chrissy. Janet and Jack both agree that anything would be more enjoyable then an evening with the Ropers.

What is up with this? I always got the impression that they sort of liked the Ropers and that they thought of them as their surrogate parents or people to go to for guidance. Until this episode, I never thought of the Ropers as nosey neighbors or annoying landlords from hell.

What does everyone else think?

I think they liked the Ropers in general, but they liked Mrs. Roper more than Mr. Roper.

I think all three of them liked the Ropers , but w/ the Christmas episode , I think they'd rather go to that party they were invited to , I think they just wanted to be w/ their friends for the holidays. As for the Ropers , they see them all the time and I'm guessing they wanted to do something different.

I think the Trio liked Mrs. Roper and just put up with Mr. Roper because he was the landlord but i don't think neither one of them liked Mr. Roper.

Think about it. Would YOU rather hang out the Roper's instead of with all your friends?

It is in one of the episodes on disc four of the season two dvds. I recognize that line because I watched all those episodes earlier today.

I have a question- I've never lived in an apartment before, but are landlords normally this chummy with their tenants and spend so much time with them. It seems like the Roppers spend more time hanging out with Jack, Chrissy, and Jannet then they do hanging out in their apartment.

And also, other sitcoms are like this too. For example, Ethel and Fred were landlords to Lucy and Ricky.

So is this all made up or do landlords really become friends with their tenants?

Yeah I know what you mean. But why is it that the Ropers and Furley always came to the trio's apartment? Like they always came by , but with their other tenants they were never that close to them.

I guess they wanted to keep an eye on Jack. They wanted to make sure that he hasn't "straightened" himself out
