Question Hader or easier or the same (parents)

When you have children are you going to be easier or harder on them than your parents were to you?
For those of you who have children are you easier or harder or about the same on them?

Pretty much the same. I have it so easy. I never had any rules or chores or got grounded. I was trusted. And I didnt have a curfew because it wasnt like I was out all the time on some wild spree. I got home when I got home. Though, when I raise my kids, Im going to raise them up hard when theyre young so they know whos boss, but as they get a little bit older Im gonna be relaxed and stuff. So until they do something thats not allowed, theyll have it easy. And whats up with sending your kids to their room? I never understood that. Nor was I ever sent up to my room. Hell, like itd matter anyways.. I had a computer, TV, and phone in there.

I would like to be easier than my parents were on me. I will definitetly be more understanding and listen to their problems, not just tell them to "shut up" or "stop complaining" and I certainly won't beat them with a paddle like my mother did me.

When I was young I always thought that I would be much more lenient with my own kids. But I have had 2 kids and I was probably more lenient but I never let them think that I was totally ignorant! My husband always told them "you can't do anything that hasn't been done before". And he was right! Our generation 50"s/60's were much more aware of teens than our parents were! So they didn't get away with too much!
When you have your own kids you will try to protect them from the world's evils.( which doesn't always work) But you will be very surprised at how very very protective that you will become! Children need protection and rules to be able to become productive adults.
Believe me! Been there ,done that!

My parents were very strict with me(and suspicious) And they were right! I got grounded a lot! But in retrospect it was a GOOD thing! (of course at the time I didn't think so!) They kept me out of a lot of trouble I'm sure! My daughter who is now in her 30's tells me the same thing!

Yeah. Seriously, they got way lucky with how I turned out. I coulve wound up to be some stoner with 3 kids by now and a high school drop out. I never had any of 'those talks' about anything, so they should thank me for having a good head on my shoulders.

Easier and harder in different areas I guess. Not saying my parents were horrible, they're definately not...I'll probably end up being the same anyway But I'm not going to try and force my kids to be perfect like my dad did. I'll let them concentrate on their own interests.
