LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - ABC has put on its Christmas list a holiday movie to star the network's sitcom star George Lopez as a sports radio jock.

In the still-untitled project, Lopez' character gets a lesson on the values of life and family from his relationship with a 15-year-old fan with a life-threatening disease.

Lisa Vidal, whose credits include recurring roles on Lifetime's "The Division" and NBC's "ER," will play his wife, an anthropology professor.

Filming is slated to begin at the end of June in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Lopez' real wife, Ann Lopez, is on board as an executive producer.

Lopez -- co-creator, writer, star and producer of his eponymous ABC comedy series -- also toplines his own Showtime comedy special, "George Lopez: Why You Crying?"
