episodes in which Archie doesn't wear the white shirt - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Maybe this was already posted, but does anyone know how many episodes there are in which he wears some other outfit? There is at least one because I have a book about the emmy awards that has a picture of him in his chair covered over in a blanket wearing a polo shirt and a striped cardigan. I believe it is a first season episode.

Also it seems his shirt wasn't always white; it was sometimes creme colored or light pink. In the very first episode his shirt looked creme colored. I'm guessing they eventually decided to put him in white because he believed in "white power". Very metaphorical attire, after all not too many people would sit around the house in a white button down shirt. Come to think of it, I don't think any of the other characters in the show ever wore white shirts like that.

I can't think of any eps with Archie wearing a different shirt.

I can think of a few where he's wearing his Pajamas.

Archie: "That's because it ain't decent goin' to bed that way."
Edith: "Well Archie, they're married."
Archie: "So are we married Edith, but we go to bed fully dressed.

There's a reason why his shirt is never white but off-white and cream colored. It never launders white, I think, to show the innocence lost. It's a silent salute to previous shows that came before All in the Family.

Didn't Archie have a loading dock type working man's job for most of the show? I always wondered why he was wearing a white shirt and pants that looked like dress pants.

Any thoughts?
