thanks to Trio, I've finally seen the much-talked-about 1980 variety flop show Pink Lady... And Jeff. It only lasted about 6 episodes, but luckily, I think the camp value would've eroded if they had gone any longer.
It had two girls from Japan who called themselves Pink Lady, they were huge in their native country in the late 1970's and scored one minor US hit in 1979 with KISS IN THE DARK. Their style was very Abba, however, neither girl could barely speak a word of English, and also the comedian Jeff Altman. He is also incredibly unfunny, the pairing of him and Pink Lady on a variety show is a match made in Hell... and it was fantastic!! It is on Trio all this month. I am a huge fan of BAD stuff, and I don't think you can get any worse than this. However, some good news, Pink Lady have recently reunited in Japan and have been touring there (they broke up not too long after this show was canned) |
