Default Saddened by Hugh's death.

I must be a 'true' fan of LITB because when I learned of Hugh Beaumont's death on the net,I was truely saddened by it,and a tear formed in my eye.
It's strange, but to me it was like loosing a family member.

Hugh reminded me so much of my own father who we lost to a heart attack in 1964 at the young age 46.
I'm glad they selected Hugh to play their father on the series.
He was just 'special' you know? (smile)
I hope I get to see many of his former motion pictures some day.
That is... if they show them.
Theres a whole list of them on the 'TV Tome' website.
Rest in Peace Hugh

I agree, Comet .... Hugh was perfect for the part of Ward Cleaver. I was surprised to learn years ago that Hugh was in real life a minister.

If there's one thing to console you, Comet, it's that it appears Hugh had a nice full, rich life. --- 3 children, his ministry, and a nice career in show business (featuring over 100 film & TV roles).

Hugh lived to the age of 73, before passing away in Germany of a heart attack in May 1982. His final TV or movie appearance came in November 1970 on an episode of "Medical Center".

I heard these things about Hugh also.
I feel good knowing he had a good life, and met his final days with his son in germany. As many good actors of the past who have left us,
we are fortunate to have all of Hugh's movies and tv series on tape to enjoy again and again. That makes me happy David,as I'm sure it does you also my friend. (Smile)

Indeed it does, Comet.

I have a rather unusual Hugh Beaumont-hosted program on VHS Tape. It's a documentary/public-service program about "Civil Defense" and how to prepare for a nuclear attack (circa mid-1950s). .............

Just want to agree with you folks in that Hugh was an excellent choice for the role. My own dad passed away back in '81 from a heart attack as well. In many respects he, too, was like Ward. Unlike Ward, though, he didn't like to wear suits and ties much. Lol!

Sorry to hear about your Dad Boomer.

You know,I'd give anything to be a kid again back in the '50s,and know what I know today.Everyone still alive and all.

I'd definately make a lot of changes, that's for sure.
I had it 'made',and didn't know it.
The world sure has 'changed' so much since then huh?

Default Hugh's movies

Two movies with Hugh Beaumont were on Mystery Science Theater 3000. One was the Human Duplicators and another one which was set in pre-historic times or in another dimension.
