Question Does this happen to anybody else??

I have a cousin who is 31, and she has four kids. The youngest one, Simon, who is a year old never seems to really like me. Like he'll always go up to my sisters who are younger and hug them or want them to hold him. But he never does any of that to me. And sometimes he cries when I hold him.
I always wonder why he doesn't like me. My sisters hog him alot, but I don't, and I don't see why he wouldn't like me. I do pick him up alot, maybe that's one reason why he doesn't really like me.

And it's happened with my other cousins. The oldest are twin boys, who are 7 now. They like me now, but they didn't like me until they were about 5.
And my other cousin Sydney who's 4 really likes me now, but she didn't start likeing me until she was 3.
Why don't some little kids and babies not like me until they're a little bit older?
Maybe it's just a normal thing that is common, or maybe theres something wrong with me.

(btw, sorry to start up another thread)

I don't think there's is anything wrong with you, some kids are just like that. Try not to take it personally. I have that problem with kids too sometimes. Some kids take to me right away and others don't. The worst thing you can do though is to try and force the kids to like you. If they don't like you to pick them up or whatever don't do it. Let them come to you on their own terms.

Thanks for the advice.
But how do I make someone like me? Espically a baby. It's hard to know why babies don't like me, because they can't talk yet.

I don't think there is anything you can do. It sounds like you're just getting babies who take better to young kids... like your sisters. Then when they get older, they appreicate you. Just keep being nice to them. Don't act nervous because babies can sense that. I don't know if you do or not, but it's an idear.

Well like I said, you can't make anyone like you. Just try and smile alot and get down on the floor with them and see if they will play with their toys with you. Get on their level so maybe they won't be intimidated by you but try not to hug them or anything until they warm up to you.

But Simon seems to like everyone but me.
If he even likes me, it's only a very tiny bit.

Do what Mijada said... get down to their level, play with their toys, smile, ect.

Any chance you are nervous around babies? A LOT of people are, and like I said, babies can sense that. And maybe when they get a little older, you feel calmer around them, and they click with you...?

Yeah Cashodeen may be right. Maybe Simon can sense that you are nervous. He's only a year old so you shouldn't let it bother you too much. I'm sure he will take to you better when he's a little older. If he takes really well to your sisters watch how they act with him and find out what he likes and maybe you can do the same.
