Default my review of Roseanne's books

I am currently reading "Roseanne: My Life As A Woman" and I'm not finished but I will go ahead and post my review for "My Lives".

"My Lives", which I would definetely rate PG13 because of its sexual content and language, really talks about the show. She talks alot about what a jerk Matt Williams was, and how there were all kinds of problems. She also talks about Tom Arnold and how she had to try really hard to get him to be a writer for the show, and how everyone else hated him because he was Roseanne's boyfriend. It is kind of ironic to hear her talk about how she and Tom are soulmates when they divorced the year this book was released. I recommend this book to EVERYONE on this board, since you all (hopefully) like the show.

From what I have read of "Roseanne: My Life As A Woman", she just simply talks about her life from birth to the time the book was released, which was when she was still with her first husband Bill Pentland. I think that if you are interested in Roseanne's life, before all the controversy, then read this book. If you could care less about Roseanne and just like the show, read "My Lives".

I also plan to read "My Sister Roseanne: The True Story of Roseanne Barr Arnold" written by Roseanne's sister Geraldine Barr. I didn't place a hold on it in my library yet because I already have the other 2 "Roseanne" books out.

Thanks for the good review.

I'm going to get my hands on "My Lives".

I read "My Lives" and it is a terrific book, but I'd rate it R because it talks so much about incest and Tom's drug problem. Basically every other word is the f word

Not true! I could have sworn there was at least 2 words between each F-word.

That is where I got my copy yesterday (at the local library). Also, I ordered it off of Amazon for 3.50 (thats including shipping and handling), but then I went ahead and checked it out. I stayed up all night reading the book. I was hooked when I first read the introduction. But anyways, it is a really good book and it gives a great insight of Roseanne's life.

But I have a few questions about the book that I didn't seem to get answered while I was reading the book. If some one would email me, then I will ask the questions and maybe you can answer them. I would ask them on here, but I don't want to ruin the book for anyone who hasn't read it yet....

Talking Roseanne' Books

After reading your post I went to Amazon.com. They had "My Lives" hardcover used and listed as good condition for $.01! So I ordered it and the total amount was only $3.50. I'm looking forward to receiving it.

Default Roseanne's Books

I just finished "My Lives". It was very interesting. I was a bit disappointed in how much was said about the interactions on the show though. I thought there would be more. There was interesting stuff about her and her relationship with Matt Williams and had about one or two sentences about her relationships with her co-stars, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf. I really wanted to hear more about her relationships with her co-stars. I'm glad to hear though that her, John and Laurie were friends. I would recommend the book. I just ordered (for $.01!) "My Live As A Woman". Can't wait to read that one!
