from that list, I love #'s 40, 33, 29, 28, 27, 25, 24, 20, 19, 18, 17, 15, 14, 13, 12, 9, 6 and 3
even the weakest week of the 1980's has more songs I like than the best week now |

24.Baby Love-Regina - the best Madonna song Madonna never did, it sounds just like what Madonna was doing at that time. I think it was produced by one of Mad's producers (Stephen Bray and/or Patrick Leonard)

I cannot believe half of these songs were hits!
Don Johnson and Huey Lewis and the News in the top 20 ahead of a Beatle song, unbelieveble. I don't remember Baby Love, I was so busy with school during that time. ![]() Thanks for posting this list.

But even then, I wanna know why people hate Huey Lewis so badly. Don Johnson's song is nowhere as bad as people make it out to be either. I actually like the song sorta. |

I don't hate Huey Lewis and the News, I just think this is not one of their best songs. The Journey song at number 32 is better than that. Again JMO!

Some records I either don't like, don't know or don't care enough about to comment. The others:
40.True Blue-Madonna- I'm not big on Madonna, but this is not so bad 37.I'll Be Over You-Toto- This is pleasant, but there is a Peabo Bryson version from 1995 I like more 36.Sweet Freedom(Theme From "Running Scared")-Michael McDonald- OK, but not great 33.Take Me Home Tonight-Eddie Money - Having Ronnie Spector helps 30.Point Of No Return-Nu Shooz- their other single was better 29.Human-Human League- this is pleasant harmony wise and was a rare hit on the "black" chart at that time by a non-black act 28.Money$ Too Tight(To Mention)-Simply Red- OK 27.Higher Love-Steve Winwood- Enjoyable, well produced 23.Earth Angel(From "The Karate Kid Part II")-New Edition - showed they had a bit more talent than on a lot of their other records 21.Sweet Love-Anita Baker- I like Baker but I don't like this song 19.I Didn't Mean To Turn You On-Robert Palmer- Cherelle's original is less comical- this is tongue in cheek 14.True Colors-Cyndi Lauper- her voice is scratchy, but it somehow enhances the record 13.All Cried Out-Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam With Full Force - this is not great at all but better than j-lo dueting with ja-rule. I could just imagine their cover 12.Heartbeat-Don Johnson- terrible tune, every era has some actor milking his fame in a record deal 11.Love Zone-Billy Ocean - this is not too good, his next single Love is Forever was an improvement 10.Dancing On The Ceiling-Lionel Richie- not one of his better songs at all 7.Throwing It All Away-Genesis- OK, sticks in the head like chewing gum in your hair 1.Stuck With You-Huey Lewis & The News - this is a bit dull to be a number one single (I think it held there for 3 weeks). That group was like a corporate rock/pop band. I remember the follow-up single Hip to Be Square was used in schools at the time. |
