Default Dick Van Dyke Show Museum

Since beginning the DVD on DVD project in 1999, a long-term goal has been to establish The Dick Van Dyke Show Museum.

Of course, it would be in New Rochelle, NY (about 30 minutes from Manhattan) and include a complete replica of the Desilu Stage 8 with the set and audience seating so fans could see exactly how the show was filmed. Perhaps a replica of the offices of Carl Reiner, Sheldon Leonard, and the other creative talent would also be included.

The Lucille Ball museum in Jamestown NY is a wonderful place
(see www.lucy-desi.com), and Lucie Arnaz's family site www.lucilleball.com to see how great an experience this could be when done with love and care.

SO, the question is, what do all of you think, and what would you like to see in terms of exhibits. We'd obviously like to have it be very informative and interactive and be a place for the historical records of everyone involved to be archived.

Let me know here, or write me at doug@dickvandykeshow.com

That would be totally awesome! I would love to see that happen! Being in the Petrie's living room or the writer's office would be like a dream come true for me.

You're not gonna believe this, but I once dreamed about this; that I was able to walk onto the set, and through the Petrie home. That was in the 70's.
It's about time!
Put in not just furniture, but props that would be recognizble to any fan.
Vitto Giotto's signature on the wall,
A marked deck of cards on the dining room table, next to a two way intercom,
A music box on the bedroom dresser, next to passbook #6565696, and that broach!
A birdcage on Richie's dresser with a hairbrush in it, next to a box of Crummy Buttons (Blah!)
On the kitchen counter, a bag of Potato Poopies and Corn Curlies,
Somewhere there should be a radio that plays "Bupkis!" & "The Twizzle,"
and, of course, the family car in the garage or driveway.
Good luck!

Steve

All great suggestions Sawgrass Steve. I was trying to think of recognizable props used on the show and all I could think of was the Uhny Uftz flying saucer, Empress Carlata necklace and the schmootzed Artanis painting.

If you have a gift shop you'll have to sell bags of walnuts, and I'd buy a reproduction of October Eve

Yes, be sure to include somewhere that "thing" that Laura bought at the auction.
